Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be hoping to extend their winning run to four games when this weekend they entertain Glamorgan at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry in their latest fixture in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships.

The home side should be able to consolidate their third place in the table as their visitors are currently lying in the relegation zone, next to bottom of the table, with only Oxfordshire below them.

In division two of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands will entertain Northamptonshire at Gilberts Bar, Field Street, Willenhall. Northamptonshire are two places and only three points behind their hosts, but it is a game that West Midlands must win to keep any hopes of promotion alive.

Making their way through the preliminary round of the singles knockout in the Sheldon and District Winter League were, Glyn Thomas, Alan Caddick, Terry Webster (Saltley Amateur Gardeners), John Sidwell, Bob Nixon, Mark Wall (Crown at Olton), Dean Young, Martyn Heaven (Mackadown Social), Simon Edwards, Mick Hicks, Perry Pudge (Sheldon Dukes), Mickey O’Sullivan (Holy Souls), Paul Connolly (Banbury Club), Paul Knowles (Yardley Ex Colts), Adam Payne (Rileys Wings), Neil Parsonage (Crown at Shard End).

A 6-3 home win over Banbury Club saw Saltley Amateur Gardeners stretch their unbeaten run in the premier division to seventeen games and give them a six point’s lead over second in the table Crown at Shard End, who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Iron Horse.

In division one Raven’s fine run continued with a 7-2 win at Yardley Ex Colts to keep them four points ahead of EBAHA, who also won 7-2 at Crown-Forget-Me-Not.

Just two points separate the top two teams in division two, leaders Crown Arrows and second placed Baldwin Bears both winning 7-2 against respective opponents Langley Hall Sports and Social Flights and Greville Arms.

The top four teams in the Pip Club League all won this week, leaders Bulls Head ‘A’ (31 points) and third placed Birchmoor Club (27 points) both won 11-5, while second placed Dolphin (27 points) and fourth in the table Wilnecote Club (25 points) had 12-4 wins.

Riley’s continued their perfect season in the Aston League with a 7-2 at Old Oscott WMC to make it sixteen straight wins to give them a four point’s advantage over second in the table Sportsmans Rest, who won their away tie with Erdington Arrows 6-3. Riley’s and Sportsmans both have a game in hand on the next four teams chasing them.

A massive 8-1 home defeat at the hands of the Members Club team has seen Roost ‘A’ drop from fourth to seventh in the Cradley Tuesday night League. Leaders Crown ‘A’ added a 7-2 win over Jays Bar to their previous eight wins to give them a perfect 18 points from the opening nine games and a four points lead over second in the table Brickmakers, who won their home fixture against Roost ‘B’ 8-1. Crown ‘A’ have played one game more than Brickmakers.

At the other end of the table the two bottom teams played each other, the result a 5-4 win for Prince of Wales, only their second win in nine and leaving their opponents Bulls Head at the foot of the table without a point so far.

The Netherton Thursday Night League staged their three-a-Side Knockout at four venues and winning through to the last four qualifiers were, C. Penn / R. Tipper / C. Davies / M. Hall (Brickmakers ‘A’), K. Harris / R. Smith / K. Chamber / N. Rossiter (Springfield Social Club), A. Turley / T. Stockton / C. Penn / J. Hughes (Brickmakers ‘B’), J. Green / S. Tipper / T. The Camp Hill League played off their singles knockout and taking the crown was Chris Stokes from the Gulp Tribe with a final success against Linsey Chant (Bordesley Labour Club). Losing semi finalists were, Alan Humpage and Mark O’Donnell.

After only three fixtures played in the Tettenhalll Wednesday Night League only three teams remain undefeated, Whitmore Reans WMC lead the field with six points, their latest victory being a 5-2 win at Jones Road. Second placed Otter and Vixen ‘B’ have won the two games they have played, a 4-3 win at Village Inn the most recent. Fourth in the table Moreton are the only other team with a 100% win record, they, like Otter and Vixen ‘B’ have only played two fixtures.

There was a surprise for The Grange in division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League when playing at home against bottom of the table Crown Arrows they lost 8-1, this being Crown Arrows second win in twelve games. The result has seen The Grange drop from third to fourth place, while their victors remain rooted to the foot of the table two points adrift of Greville Arrows, who are next to bottom.

In division two Riley’s Wings lost ground in the title race when they went down 6-3 at Highwood KB, but despite the defeat hang on to second place. In a bottom of the division game next to bottom Centurion had a convincing 9-0 win over bottom team Ivy Leaf Bulls.

The Warwickshire Men’s Super League is up to week fifteen and leading the way is reigning champions Coventry Bishopsgate from fourteen games. Brandon are second on 93and have a game in hand on the leaders. With Birmingham Midland Red, who are third, on 78 points it looks as though the league is a two horse race between Coventry and Brandon.

The Mile Oak Rovers Challenge Cup was on the agenda for the Tamworth League and winning their way through to the last four were Dolphin ‘A’, Sports Bar ‘180’, Three Tuns (Fazeley) and Fox and Dogs.

The Riley’s Sunday Knockout Double Top League have completed their programme and winning the title by the narrowest of margins was Ian McFarlane. Both McFarlane and Trevor Frost finished the season locked together on 106 points, McFarlane taking the title on the number of legs won only. In the final knockout of the campaign McFarlane lost 3-1 in the quarter finals to Will Naylor, Frost made his way to the final, where he also faced Naylor. The result was a 4-0 win for Naylor if Frost had beaten him he would have clinched the title. McFarlane received £400 as champion and Frost £200 as runner up.

League organiser Frost wishes to thank Riley’s for making it all happen and Riley’s manager Nick Wassall for his help throughout the season.

In the Rowley Monday Night League, Crown won their home game against York Road Sports and Social 6-3, but it was not enough for them to hold on to pole position as Springfield Social won 9-0 at Hunting Tree to put them on the same unbeaten 18 points as Crown but with one leg more. Third placed Ivy Bush ‘Z’, the only other unbeaten team in the league won 8-1 at Timber Tree to remain in third place.

The Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League has completed the opening four fixtures of the new campaign and the amazing coincidence is that both divisions have three unbeaten teams and also the top two teams in each division are on both the same points and average. In division one Oxbarn and Riley’s ‘C’ are on 8 points with 23 legs for, Otter and Vixen third with 21 legs and in division two Boat ‘A’ and Wednesfield Legion ‘A’ are on 8 points with 21 legs for with Wednesfield Cons third with 17 legs.

The Small Heath League fixtures produced a top of the table clash this week between leaders Gulp Tribe and second placed Shannon’s. The outcome was a close 5-4 win for reigning champions Gulp Tribe to give them a two points buffer at the top of the table.

Emerald Club Flights lost 7-2 at home to Wagon and Horses and as a result drop from fourth to seventh in the table, being replaced in the fourth spot by their victors.

There was a rearranged fixture for the Roy Parry Cup in the South Birmingham League, which saw Punch Bowl gain a close 5-4 win over Mackadown Social.

In the Division Two Cup there were wins for Coleshill Social, The Dog, Iron Horse and St John’s at the expense of The Trident, Kingfisher, Banbury Flights and Toby Jug. R.Roser hit a maximum for Iron Horse and R.Sharples did the same for Kingfisher.
