Sutton Sports, reigning division one champions in the Four Oaks and District League had an unsettling start to the new campaign when they went down 6-3 at The Nomads, who not only outscored but outplayed their visitors. In addition to the reigning champions losing the reigning runners up, Old Oscott Arrows, despite maximums from A.Mountford and A.Lea, also got off on the wrong foot as they lost by the same 6-3 margin in their away game against Red Lion Flights. Old Oscott WMC defeated newly promoted Drakes Drum 7-2.

Anvil Nomads were relegated to division two last year, but they began their fight back to gain division one status with a 6-3 win at Plough and Barrows, both teams had a player hit 180, M.Bateman for the hosts and D.Walton for Anvil Nomads. Last season’s division three winners, the Beehive suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat away to Bromford Lions, while Brookvale Social recovered from 4-2 down to win 5-4 at Boldmere Sports.

In division three Cross Keys Arrows won 7-2 against Crown Warriors, aided by a 180 from M.Edwards, White Lion rallied from 4-1 down to beat Pint Pot Flights 5-4.

Although Crown at Olton won 6-3 at Iron Horse in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, they dropped one place to third in the table. Old Bill and Bull have replaced them in the number two spot after a convincing 8-1 home win over Sheldon Dukes. In addition to Crown at Olton and Old Bill and Bull having 6 points, Crown at Shard End, George V and Highwood ‘A’ are also on the same number of points. Saltley Amateur Gardeners are the outright leaders with a perfect 8 points following their 7-2 home win over Mackadown Social.

Week four saw the top five teams in division one all win, Raven are leading the way with eight points from their four games, two points behind are EBAHA, who have only played three games and Sheldon Social, who have played four. Fourth placed Riley’s Rags are four points behind Raven, but as yet have only two results.

Baldwin Bears lead division two, a close 5-4 win at Highwood ‘B’ seeing them maintain their 100% start, while for their opponents, it was their first loss and drop one place in the table to third. Crown Arrows take over second place, an 8-1 win at Highwood Exiles leaving them trailing Baldwin on average only.

After the first two weeks of the newly formed Riley’s Sunday Knockout League, three players are level at the top of the table on 14 points, Trevor Frost, Neil Parsonage and Brendan Lysaght.

In the latest round of games Mike McFall won the ‘A’ knockout with a final 4-1 victory over Brendan Lysaght, while the ‘B’ knockout was won by Natalie Gilbert, a close 3-2 verdict against Stewart Hazlett.

The top two teams in the Pip Club League, Bulls Head ‘A’ and Belgrave Club played each other in the latest round of fixture’s, the result was a 10-6 win for the hosts, Bulls Head ‘A’, to give them a total of 8 points from four games. Belgrave drop to third in the table and are replaced in second place by Wilnecote Club, who beat Longwood 11-5 to put them just one point behind the leaders.

Royal Oak, who finished all square at 8-8 with Travellers, lead the division two table with 5 points, two more than their nearest rivals Two Gates Club, who had a 9-7 win at White Lion.

Gulp Tribe made it 27 wins in 28 games when they beat third in the table Custard House 5-4 in the Small Heath League to give them a total of 54 points, ten more than second placed Emerald Club, who had a bye this week.

It was second versus third in the Camp Hill League with Cotterills Lane Club taking on Bordesley Labour Club. The result was a 5-2 win for Cotterills to put them on the same 14 points as leaders Scruffy Ringers, with Ringers having a game in hand. Bordesley are now two points adrift of the leading pair and have played three more games than Ringers.

Division one of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League saw third placed Victoria play hosts to Pavilion, who are fourth in the table. The home side lost the tie 4-3, their opponents closing the gap between them to four points.

In division two second placed Bull suffered a setback to their title hopes when they lost 4-3 to Electric, who are in fourth place. Bull are now two points off the top as leaders Village ‘B’ won their game at Boat ‘A’ 5-2. Riley’s ‘A’ are also two points behind the leaders, a 4-3 win against Corpus keeping them in the title race.

A 6-1 win at Riley’s ‘B’ has seen Wednesfield FC go clear at the top of the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League, as prior to the fixture both teams were level on 46 points, with Riley’s ‘B’ top on average. Whitmore Reans WMC and Moreton are battling it out for third place with both teams on 44 points.

Week two of the Forest of Arden Winter League and in division one The Grange had a good 7-2 win at Riley’s Red Arrows to make them one of four unbeaten teams, the others being Highwood ‘A’, Greville Arrows and Harvester.

In the second division Chelmsley Town, who only won one of their eight summer league fixtures have got off to a cracking start with a 6-3 win at Sheldon Flights plus a 7-2 home win over Riley’s Wings. Highwood ‘C’ are the only other unbeaten side in the division, they have played just one game, which they won 8-1 at home to Ivy leaf Bulls.

The top eight teams all won in the Rowley Monday Night League, but with Bulls Head (Rowley) eight points clear of the rest of the field on 54 points, with just four to play the title appears to be sewn up. So the battle is on for the runners up spot for which there are four contenders with only two points separating them. Bull Terrier, Bell and Ivy Bush ‘Z’ are all on 46 points, with Ex Serviceman’s Club two points behind them, the Bell however have played one game more than their rivals.

In the Cradley Tuesday Night League fifth from the top Plough and Harrow took on fifth from bottom Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’ and the surprising result was a 4-3 win for the Sports and Social Club, only their ninth win in 30 games.

No change at the top as the top four all won, leaders Brickmakers had a resounding 6-1 win at Chainmakers ‘A’, Chainmakers ‘B’, won by the same margin at Netherton Sports and Social ‘A’, to stay just ahead of Yeltz Bar, who won 5-2 at the Vine to put them on the same 46 points as Chainmakers ‘A’ but trailing on average.

Gate (Colley Gate) beat Jays Bar 4-3 but are a further six points behind on 40 points.

The South Birmingham League got their winter season underway and The Crown, in division one got it off with a bang by handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Pavilions, with M.Partridge and A.Hoey both recording nine dart games for the winners. Reigning summer league champions Mackadown Social also had a fine start, their 7-2 win was over the reigning runners up Punch Bowl.

Toby Jug were the biggest winners in division two, an 8-1 away win against Shard End Ladies. St John’s were not far behind with their 7-2 success against Banbury Flights.

After only three fixture Fox and Dogs have opened up a five points lead in the Tamworth League. The latest 5-2 win by the leaders was against Dolphin ‘A’, who as a result have dropped one place in the table to third, Old Liberal House have taken over the second spot after a 6-1 win against Wigginton.

Biggest winners on the night were Mile Oak Rovers, who had an emphatic 7-0 win over Dolphin ‘B’.
