The Sheldon and District Summer League had the quarter finals of their Mrs F. Richman Cup on their fixture list and the biggest shock of the round was provided by group four Riley’s Rags. Leading their group Riley’s Rags took on Crown at Olton who are placed bottom of group one, and beat them 4-3.
All of the other games went to plan with Saltley Amateur Gardeners (group one) beating EBAHA (group three) 6-1, Mackadown Social (group two) winning 5-2 against Custard House (group three) and group one leaders Riley’s Kings having a convincing 6-1 win away to Banbury Club from group three.
Two outstanding fixtures that were played saw the Crane, bottom of group three earn a 4-4 draw with Marston Green tavern, who are two places above them and in group six Ridgemere Tavern had a 5-3 win away to Small Heath Amateur Gardeners.

Emerald Club lost ground in the title race in the Small Heath League when they lost 5-4 away to fourth in the table Custard House. Emerald remain in second place but are now a massive twelve points adrift of leaders Gulp Tribe, who had substantial 8-1 home win over Custard House Flights to make it 24 wins in 25 games.
In the other two fixtures Cobs Bar and Sheldon Marlborough Flights in turn had 6-3 wins over Redhill Wanderers and Clock Inn.

It was semi final week in the Forest of Arden Summer League, last four play off’s for the Divisional Cup. In division one champions Olton Crown won 4-3 against Greville Arrows, who finished bottom of the division, while runners up Highwood ‘A’ had a 6-1 win over next to bottom Harvester.
Winners of division two, Highwood KB won 4-3 against Sheldon Flights and meeting them in the final will be divisional runners up Crown Arrows, who beat The Crane 5-2.
In the division three bottom of the table clash next to bottom Ivy Leaf Bulls won 5-2 against bottom team Greville Arms. Third division champions Highwood ‘C’ won 6-1 against third placed Ivy Leaf.

With a bye this week in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League, Riley’s ‘B’ lost pole position to Wednesfield FC, who had a 4-3 win away to Royal Oak. The difference between the two top teams is only average, their nearest rivals Riley’s ‘A’, who have played one more fixture than the top duo are now also two points behind them as they surprisingly lost 5-2 away to The Bull, who are placed in the bottom half of the table.

It was a good week for Roost ‘B’ who are bottom of the Cradley Tuesday Night League as they chalked up only their second win in twenty five game when they won their home tie with Prince of Wales 4-3. Despite the win Roost ‘B’ remain six points adrift of the next team to them in the table Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’, who lost 6-1 at the Crown. Top of the table Brickmakers had an impressive 6-1 home win over Yeltz Bar, who drop one place to third, to keep the leaders six points ahead of second placed Quarry Bank Liberal Club, who also won 6-1 at home to the Vine.

Group ‘A’ of the South Birmingham League produced clashes from both the top and bottom of the table. Leaders Mackadown Social played hosts to second placed Punch Bowl and ran out 5-3 winners to give them a perfect 14 points from seven games, a four points lead over their opponents plus a game in hand.
At the other end of the table Shard End Social are bottom and they travelled to play against the next team up Kingfisher. The outcome was a resounding 8-0 win for the home side, leaving Shard End firmly rooted at the foot of the table without a point from the opening eight games.
The bottom two teams in group ‘B’ also played each other, Banbury Flights winning 5-3 against Trident to move off the bottom and up two places, while Trident drop into the bottom spot, two points behind both The Gate and Banbury Flights.
Riley’s Kings continue to impress in group ‘C’, their latest encounter at home to Coleshill Social seeing them win 8-0 to give them 13 points. Crwon at Shard End are also on 13 points following their 7-1 win over Smithswood Social, but they have played one game more than Kings.

Division two of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League produced a rare win for bottom of the table Boat ‘A’. Playing at home against Yale Club, who are two off the foot of the table, Boat ‘A’ chalked up a convincing 6-1 win. The win, however sees Boat ‘A’ remain bottom, four points behind next to bottom King Charles.
It’s tight at the top of the division with Village ‘B’ and Bull both locked on 36 points from 23 games. Village ‘B’ had a comfortable 7-0 win away to Wednesfield Legion ‘B’, while Bull had a far more difficult task at home to third placed Riley’s ‘A’, but nevertheless they won 5-2.
In the first division Village ‘A’ lead the field on 40 points after a 6-1 home win over Otter and Vixen ‘A’, their nearest threat comes from Otter and Vixen ‘B’, whose 5-2 win over Penn Bowling leaves them four points adrift of the leaders.

In the latest of the Riley’s Saturday knockouts at the Wolverhampton based club the winner was West Midland county player Dean Stewart. Stewart beat Andy Roberts 5-2 in the final after a close 5-4 win in the semis against Simon Preston, Roberts had a more comfortable passage with his 5-1 win over Micky Baker.
The two finalists were in a high scoring mood throughout the competition, with a combined total of 17×100, 12×140 and 3×180.
Losing quarter finalists were, Alan Carter, Kark Hughes, Mike McFall and Dan Astbury.

No change at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League as the top seven teams all won this week. Leaders Bulls Head (Rowley) hang on to their four points lead over second placed Bell. There were big wins for all of the seven as Bulls Head beat Allens Sports and Social 8-1, Bell beat Rowley Olympic 7-2, third placed Ivy Bush ‘Z’ handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Fairfield, fourth placed Bull Terrier were 7-2 winners at Ivy Bush ‘A’, Ex Serviceman’s Club won their home game with The Crown 8-1, Springfield Social Club won 6-3 at Timber Tree and seventh in the table York Road Sorts and Social won 7-2 away to Whiteheath tavern.
