Round two of the Sheldon and District Summer League’s Mrs F.Richman Cup produced very few shock results, the biggest was possibly the 4-3 win by group two’s Mackadown Social who won 4-3 away to Iron Horse from group one. Another surprising scoreline was the close 4-3 win by Saltley Amateur Gardeners (group one) at Greville Arms, who hail from group seven.
The all group three affair between Langley Hall Arrows and EBAHA finished with a 5-2 win for the latter that being the margin by which Crown at Olton beat Highwood Arrows in the all group one clash. Biggest winners of the round were Banbury Club, who beat their group three counterparts Crane 7-0 and Riley’s Kings (group one), who also won 7-0 against group two opponents Highwood Flights.
Custard House also go into the hat for the next round draw after a 4-3 home win over Willclare Sports and Social.

St Johns, second in the table in group ‘B’’ of the South Birmingham League, were held to a 4-4 draw by bottom of the division Trident and now trail leaders The Dog, who are on 11 points, by two points. The Gate moved further away from the bottom two places with a 6-2 win against Banbury Flights to open up a four point’s gap between the two teams.
There were two 180’s hit in group ‘B’ D.Clinton (St Johns) and P.Moran (Banbury Flights).
In group ‘A’ second from top Punch Bowl took on second from bottom Kingfisher and handed out an 8-0 whitewash to keep them in touch with leaders Mackadown Social, who are still two points to the good and now also have a game in hand. The game included two maximums, both for the hosts Punch Bowl, supplied by B.Evans and K.White.
Group ‘C’ top team Riley’s Kings have to rearrange their fixture with The Raven, Crown at Shard End took the opportunity to draw level on the same nine points as Riley’s when they won their home tie with Coleshill Social 6-2.

Emerald Club lost ground in the title race in the Small Heath League, going down 6-3 away to sixth in the table Clock Inn. Emerald are now a massive ten points behind top team Gulp Tribe, whose successful season continued with a convincing 8-1 home win over Redhill Wanderers.

At the recent Sheldon and District Winter League presentation Tony Randell was presented with the singles winner’s trophy for the fifth time in twelve years and in such a strong league that is no mean feat.
This coming Sunday the league have a double meeting, both the summer and winter leagues will stage their meetings at the Meadway Sports and Social Club, 235 Kelymead Road, B33 8LJ beginning at 10.30am.

Following their latest results Jays Bar and Gate (Colley Gate) have swapped placed in the Cradley Tuesday Night League table. Jays Bar have slipped from fifth to sixth after a 5-2 defeat away to Plough and Harrow, who are fourth in the table. Gate (ColleyGate) take over the fifth place with a similar 5-2 success away to Roost ‘A’.
Brickmakers maintained their four points lead with a 5-2 win at Netherton Sports and Social ‘B, while their nearest rivals Yeltz Bar had a close 4-3 verdict as hosts to bottom of the table Roost ‘B’.
Making up the top trio are Quarry Bank Liberal Club, another team to win 5-2 in their away game with Prince of Wales however, they remain six points adrift of Brickmakers and two behind Yeltz.

The Forest of Arden Summer League have been engaged in the quarter finals of their Knockout Cup and with three of the results in so far there have been no surprises. Top of division one Highwood ‘A’ won 6-1 at Crown Arrows (division two), Olton Crown, also from division one beat their division three opponents Ivy Leaf 5-2 and Sheldon Flights (division two) won 4-3 against Ivy Leaf Bulls, who are one division below them.
The Chelmsley Town versus Greville Arrows game is a late result.

There was an Electric shock in division two of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League this week as long time leaders Electric lost to fourth from bottom Roebuck 5-2 and because the title is a closely fought contest they have slipped down to fourth on 30 points. Village ‘B’ have taken over pole position after 5-2 home win over Castle, Bull, who beat Corpus 5-2 are second and Riley’s ‘A’ third following their 5-2 win at Harrowby. All of the top three teams are on 32 points with only average separating them.
Making it an all Village affair Village ‘A’ head division one, their 5-2 win at Bird in Hand preserving their number one spot and also their four points advantage over second placed Otter and Vixen ‘B’, who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their hosts Oxbarn.
Wolverhampton Sports Arena fell one place to fourth after a somewhat surprising 4-3 loss away to Pavilion, who are placed ninth in the table.

No change at the top of the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League as the top five teams all won. Just one point of average separates leaders Wednesfield FC and second in the table Riley’s ‘B’ as both teams chalked up 6-1 wins, the former won their home game with Bull and the latter won away to Otter and Vixen ‘A’. Riley’s B’ are just two points off the top and they won their fixture at Brewood British Legion 4-3, Whitemore Reans WMC and Moreton are both locked on 34 points, in turn they won 4-3 against Otter and Vixen ‘B’ and Wrottesley Arms.

The top of the table clash between Cotterills Lane Club and Scruffy Ringers was cancelled in the Camp Hill League Cotterills are top on 10 points from five games, while the Ringers have 8 points from four games.
A 5-2 win at Station saw Bordesley Labour Club draw level on points with Scruffy Ringers, but they have now played two more games than the second placed side.

The Rowley Monday Night League have had the first round of their Bill Bishop Cup on the fixture card in which there were wins for, Bull Terrier, Ivy Bush ‘Z’, Bulls Head (Rowley), Ex Serviceman’s, Timber Tree, Allens Sports and Social, Golden Cue and Crown, who in turn defeated York Road Sports and Social, Bell, Ivy Bush ‘A’, Springfield Social Club, Hunting Tree, Fairfield, Moon Under Water and Rowley Rag.
The quarter finals will take place on 9th September.
