Group two of the Sheldon and District Summer League saw Sheldon Dukes lose their first game in seven when they were beaten 6-2 away to second in the table Mackadown Social. Mackadown are now level on points with leaders Highwood Flights, whose game with Shirley RBL Flights was cancelled, but have played one game more. Dukes remain in third place but are now three points adrift of the leading pair.

In group one Saltley Amateur Gardeners replaced Highwood Arrows in third place in the table after a 6-2 win at Crown at Olton, Highwood Arrows lost by the same margin away to leaders Riley’s Kings, who are six points ahead of both Iron Horse and Saltley, both have a game in hand on the King’s.

The top two teams in group three were held to 4-4 draws this week, top team George V ‘A’ were at home to third placed Banbury Club, while second in the table Langley Hall Arrows, also playing at home, were surprisingly held by bottom team Crane.

Group four and five leaders, Riley’s Rags and Raven are the only two teams in the league able to boast a 100% win record. Riley’s Rags beating Holy Souls 5-3 and Raven having a convincing 7-1 home win over Shirley RBL Misfits.

Baldwin Bears had their tie with Small Heath Amateur Gardeners postponed Highwood KB’s taking full advantage with a 7-1 win against Emerald Club to take over pole position with 11 points, one more than Bears, who now have a game in hand.

Ivy Leaf ‘B’ continue to lead the way in group seven, a 6-2 home win over Riley’s Wings maintaining their three points advantage over second placed Greville Arms, who finished all square at 4-4 with Meadway Sports and Social.

A final reminder that tonight the Aston League will be holding their A.G.M at Aston Social beginning at 8.00pm. All teams within a 6 miles radius of Aston are welcome to join the league for the new season. The Tamworth Darts League Presentation and Exhibition Night has now been confirmed as Saturday 31st August and will be held at the Mile Oak Rovers FC, Price Avenue, Mile Oak, Tamworth. This year’s special guest, and putting on the exhibition will be Dennis ‘The Menace’ Priestley, a great player and a true legend of darts.

Doors will open at 7.00pm there will be raffles and an auction on the night, with proceeds going to S.P.I.N. (Special People In Need) and The Stroke association, the league are on the lookout for new teams to join them in the forthcoming season. Match nights are Tuesday with a minimum of five players per team.

Congratulations to Roost ‘B’, who for the first time in 23 games chalked up a win in the Cradley Tuesday Night League. Playing at home Roost ‘B’ beat next to bottom Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’ 6-1 however, despite the win they remain at the foot of the table on those two newly achieved points ten behind their opponents and the Vine.

Quarry Bank Liberal Club lost their number two spot, a 4-3 home defeat at the hands of the Yeltz Bar team seeing them drop one place to third, while their victors move up one place to second.

The Gate (Colley Gate) also lost their home game against Plough and Harrow 4-3, dropping two places to sixth, while Plough and Harrow move up one to fourth.

Leaders Brickmakers hold on to their four point’s lead, a 6-1 win over Crown giving them 42 points.

Another impressive result from Gulp Tribe in the Small Heath League as they chalked up an 8-1 win over their latest opponents Clock Inn. Gulp Tribe now hold a massive eight point’s lead over second in the table Emerald Club, who had a close 5-4 verdict over bottom of the table Custard House Flights.

Next to bottom Redhill Wanderers had a rare win, their 8-1 success coming against Sheldon Marlborough Flights, who are now only two points above them.

Highwood ‘A’ have lost their advantage at the top of division one of the Forest of Arden Summer League after losing 4-3 at home to their nearest rivals Olton Crown, who have now drawn level on 10 points and have a game in hand.

No such problem for Highwood KB in the second division as they romped to a 6-1 win over The Crane to make it six straight wins and a four point’s lead over Crown Arrows and The Crane.

Making up the trio of Highwood teams, Highwood ‘C’ in division three just got home with a 4-3 win over bottom placed Greville Arms to go four points ahead of second in the table Riley’s Wings, who lost 4-3 at the Ivy Leaf.

There were big wins for the top five teams in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League, leaders Wednesfield FC won 7-0 at Otter and Vixen ‘A’, Riley’s ‘B’ had a 5-2 success away to Fordhouses CC, while their ‘A’ team won 7-0 at Bushbury WMC. Fourth placed Whitmore Reans WMC were also 7-0 winners as they played hosts to Round Oak and making up the five Moreton had a 6-1 victory at the Bull.

It’s neck and neck at the top of the Camp Hill League with Cotterills Lane Club and Scruffy Ringers dead level on both points and average. Cotterills latest win was 5-2 at Bordesley Labour Club, while Scruffy Ringers won their home tie with Crown Arrows 6-1.

The Bell, second in the Rowley Monday Night League table won a vital home game against fourth placed Bull Terrier 7-2 to keep them within six points of leaders Bulls Head (Rowley), who had a close 5-4 win at home to sixth in the table Springfield Social Club.

Ivy Bush ‘Z’ lost ground in the title race as they suffered a shock 6-3 defeat away to tenth placed Timber Tree, however, they do hang on to third place, two points behind the Bell but two points ahead of Bull Terrier and Ex Serviceman’s Club, who beat Ivy Bush ‘A’ 7-2.
