As the end of the season draws ever closer for the Sheldon and District Winter League, cup finals are now the main issue and the Punchbowl semi finals saw 5-4 wins for EBAHA and Crown at Shard End over respective opponents Riley’s Arrows and Sheldon Dukes. The final was more clear cut with Crown at Shard End chalking up a title winning 7-2 scoreline.

7-2 was also the margin by which Langley Hall Sports and Social defeated Small Heath Amateur Gardeners in the last four of the Sheldon Shield and joining them in the final were Old Bill and Bull, who won 5-4 against Banbury Club. Langley Hall recorded another 7-2 score in the final leaving Old Bill and Bull as runners up.

The M & B Cup is a “Round Robin” competition for the three teams that finish bottom of each division, however Ridgemere Social didn’t turn up for the play off and so it was a straight match between Holy Souls and Ivy Leaf, which saw Holy Souls record a massive 8-1 win.

The South Birmingham League had cup fixtures on the agenda, first the Knockout Cup, with Riley’s Kings taking the title with a final 5-1 success against Mackadown Social. Riley’s had a 5-4 win in the semi’s against Raven Flights, while Mackadown had a more convincing 7-2 win over Banbury Flights.

The last four play off for the Jimmy Walker Cup saw The Digby Hotel sail through to the finals with a straight 5-0 win over Toby Jug. The Raven made their way to the final round with a 5-2 win against Coleshill Social.

Despite a maximum from M.Partridge in the final, the Digby Hotel narrowly lost out by 5-4, The Raven lifting the silverware.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club lost second place in the Netherton Thursday Night League when they lost their home game with third placed Brickmakers ‘B’ by 6-3. As a result the two teams have swapped places in the table. Brickmakers ‘A’ remain in pole position with 69 points, a massive 18 more than their two nearest rivals Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ and The Victoria, the Victoria however do have two games in hand on both of the Brickmaker teams.

The league staged the finals of their Three-a-Side Knockout and taking the honours with a final 2-1 win over Springfield Social Club was the Brickmakers ‘A’ team comprising of C.Penzer, R.Tipper and C.Davies.

Not so long ago the Bull Terrier were flying high at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League table, but have now dropped to fourth place after losing 6-3 at home to the Bulls Head (Rowley), their third defeat in 16 games. Their victors however are now two points clear in the number one spot, with the Bell second on 28 points, their latest win being a very comfortable 8-1 home success over Rowley Rag.

Ivy Bush ‘Z’ move up one place to third following a 7-2 win at Moon Under Water and with 26 points are level with Bull Terrier but ahead of them by just one leg of average.

The Tettenhall Wednesday Night League had a top of the table clash this week when undefeated leaders Wednesfield FC hosted third in the table Riley’s ‘B’. The result was a close 4-3 win for Riley’s, who are now only two points behind Wednesfield FC. Despite this first defeat in thirteen games Wednesfield remain in the number one spot however, second placed Riley’s ‘A’, who won 4-3 at Royal Oak are now level on the same 24 points, they trail only on average.

The Warwickshire County Darts Organisation’s yearly meetings have all been set by the Executive Committee. Firstly the Ladies Super League AGM is set for Friday 7th June 2013 at the Bishopsgate Club Foleshill Road Coventry CV1 4LF with an 8.00pm start. All current teams in the league must be represented. Also any new teams that are interested in putting a team into the league for the new season are also welcome to attend.

The Men’s Super League AGM is set for Sunday 7th July, again at the Bishopsgate Club, with a starting time of 11.00am. Once again all current teams must be represented together with any new teams.

Any Rule changes or proposals of any kind must be proposed and seconded and with the Secretary of either league no later than seven days prior to the meeting date.

Week two in the Sutton and District Summer League and only two teams remain unbeaten in division one, Nomads and Sutton Sports The Nomads lead the field on average, their latest win being a 7-2 success over Anvil Nomads, whose R.Hawker and S.Guesford both hit maximums, C.Winters doing the same for The Nomads.

Sutton Sports beat The Leopard 6-3, M.Wild recording a 160 break for Sutton.

In division two, B.Stephens, who plays for early pacesetters Golden Hind was another player to break with 160 as his team won 6-3 at Bishop Vesey, while second in the table Drakes Drum had a 5-4 win at Plough and Barrows, helped along by a 180 from K.Lumby.

Division three leaders Boldmere Sports and Social won 8-1 against Boldmere Oak, their second 8-1 win in as many games, their nearest rivals The Beehive beat Crown Warriors 7-2, they also repeating their previous 7-2 win.

The Gulp Tribe rounded off the first half of the Small Heath League with a 5-4 win at Redhill Wanderers to give them 30 points and a six points cushion over second placed Emerald Club, who now have a game in hand as their fixture with Clock Inn was cancelled.

The Camp Hill League had cup matches on their fixture card. First the Captains Knockout Competition, which saw Crown Arrows man Tom Humphries take the title with a final win over Con Murphy (Scruffy Ringers).

Lin Chant (Bordesley Labour Club) won the Secretary’s Knockout, beating Midland Dart Centre’s Peter Yardley in the final.

The league are on the lookout for more teams to join them in the forthcoming season, both new and current teams are welcome, registration will be at the Wagon and Horses, Digbeth, on Sunday 9th June at 11.00am.

The Tamworth League’s Mile Oak Rover Challenge Cup has been won by the Three Tuns, Fazeley. They followed up their 4-2 win in the semi’s against Old Liberal House with a 4-1 victory over Globe Inn in the final. Mile Oak Rovers lost 4-0 to Globe Inn in the other last four playoff.

After winning the opening nine fixtures in division two of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, Electric have now lost the last three games in a row, the latest being a 5-2 defeat away to Harrowby, who are lying in a mid table position. Because of the good start to the campaign Electric hold on to pole position, but only on average as Village ‘B’, Bull and Riley’s ‘A’ all join them now on the same 18 points.

No Change at the top of the overall table in the Pip Club League as all top three teams win this week. Leaders Bulls Head (Polesworth) had a 12-4 win at Royal Oak giving them 32 points, second placed Dolphin have the same 32 points after their 13-3 home win over Old Liberal and making up the trio is Belgrave Club, who won their home tie with Gate Inn 11-5 to give them 30 points, however they do have a game in hand on the two teams above them.

Aston Flights recorded only their second win in 17 games in the Aston League when they beat Deer’s Leap by a huge 8-1 scoreline. The win sees Flights move off the foot of the table and be replaced by Aston Hotel, who in their most recent fixture lost 7-2 at Old Oscott WMC.

The league have played off their Presidents and Consolation Cup finals, taking the title in the former were the Sportsmans Rest with a straight 4-0 win over Oscott Social in the final. There was however some joy for Oscott Social as they lifted the crown in the final of the Consolation Cup with a 5-4 win over Old Oscott WMC.
