An away game against Essex, second in the premier division table of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships, proved to be a little too challenging for local county Warwickshire. The result after Saturday’s games was still well and truly in the balance as both the men and ladies finished all square. Jimmy Hill (28.23) was the top man in the men’s 6-6 draw, while Louise Graham (19.52) achieved her fourth match award of the season in the women’s 3-3 draw.
The following day the ladies lost 5-1, Sue Gulliver (19.52) their sole winner, the surprise being the 3-2 defeat of Trina Gulliver by Viv Dundon, Trina’s last defeat was in the opening game of the season away to Yorkshire, when she lost 3-1 to Lorraine Farlam.
The men went down 7-5, Ian McFarlane collecting the match award with a 28.81 average.

In division one West Midlands played hosts to Dorset, a game which they were really expected to get something out of, but unfortunately they lost 20-16. The only highlight of the weekend was the 8-4 win by the men’s ‘B’ side with Richard Platt their top player with a 29.91 average. Andy Forrester was in fine form for the ‘A’ side chalking up a 31.08 average in the team’s 7-5 defeat.
The ladies teams both lost, the ‘A’ 4-2 with Gemma Barrett’s super 26.37 average taking the lady of the match. Heather Wright was the only winner in the ‘B’ teams 5-1 reversal, her 16.41 average taking her awards for the season to five.

It was good news for the top five teams in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League as they all recorded wins to remain as they were with, Saltley Amateur Gardeners top on 30 points, Crown at Shard End second with 28.
Langley Hall Sports and Social had a setback to their runners up hopes in division one, going down 6-3 away to seventh placed Sheldon Social, they are now third, two points behind Banbury Club have a game in hand but Banbury have a far superior average.
Greville Arms, bottom of division two, recorded a rare win this week, a 6-3 home win over next to bottom Riley’s Wings.

Brickmakers, top of the Cradley Tuesday Night League, had their first defeat of the season this week, a 4-3 home loss at the hands of the Swan team. However, Brickmakers remain in p0ole position with 20 points, two ahead of Quarry Bank Liberal Club, who beat Chainmakers 4-3. Swan move up two places to sixth.
Gate (Colley Gate) dropped three places to seventh following their 4-3 home defeat to Gate (Darby End), who go up the table one place to eleventh, after the top two there are no fewer than four team on 16 points, Jays Bar, Yeltz Bar, Victoria and Swan.

Peter Yardley (Midland Darts Centre) is the new singles champion in the Camp Hill League. Yardley lifted the title after beating Mark Wyatt from the Custard House in the final. Losing semi finalists were Mitch O’Donnell (Bordesley Labour Club), who lost to Wyatt and Mark Richards (Scruffy Ringers).

Cup final week for the Four Oaks and District League, Sutton Sports, with a convincing 8-1 scoreline beat Red Lion Flights to win the Coronation Shield, while The Beehive beat Old Oscott Arrows 5-3 to secure the Norman Day Cup title.
The Challenge Cup final was a close affair with Brookvale just getting the 5-4 edge on The Heartlands. The Doubles competition was won by the Nomads pairing M.Archer and W.Mynard, a 3-2 result against M.Wild and M.Ashton (Sutton Sports) in the final.

Gulp Tribe’s 6-3 home win against Wagon and Horses in the Small Heath League took their winning run to eleven games and giving them a perfect 22 points. Second placed Emerald Club won their home game with Redhill Wanderers 7-2, but still remain two points behind Gulp and have played one game more.
Bottom team Clock Inn recorded their third win in twelve, a 5-4 success against Cobs Bar, but despite the win remain rooted to the foot of the table on six points.

Belgrave Club dropped behind in the overall title race in the Pip Club League when they were held to an 8-8 draw by lowly Old Liberal. Dolphin had a bye, but lead the field on 28 points, Belgrave Club have the same amount of points, but a slightly inferior average.

The division one title is turning into a two horse race in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League. Leaders Village ‘A’ had a vital 4-3 win against third in the table Otter and Vixen, who are now four points behind the leaders. Second placed Wolverhampton Sports Arena also won 4-3 in their tie with Oxbarn and are on the same 14 points as Village ‘A’, trailing slightly on average.
In division two, Yale Club moved off the bottom following their 4-3 win against Boat ‘A’, who have taken over the unenviable bottom spot. After a massive 7-0 win at King Charles, Corpus jump five places in the table to fourth.

In week ten of the Vic Lloyd Thursday Night League, Cleveland Arms dropped their first point of the season, when they were held to a 3-3 draw at home by Quarry Bank, who have dropped one place to third and are two points behind them. Staffordshire Knot ‘A’ are second, a 5-1 home win over Gilberts ‘B’ putting them just one point behind Cleveland.

Just two points separate the top four teams in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League. Wednesfield FC are top with a perfect 16 points from eight games, their latest win being a massive 7-0 against Wrottesley Arms. Behind the leaders come Riley’s ‘B’ and Moreton, who each won 6-1 against respective opponents Bull and Stile, then Riley’s ‘A’, who had a close 4-3 over Fordhouses CC.
Round Oak had their first win in the eight game season so far, a 4-3 victory over Brewood British Legion to lift them off the foot of the table, they are replaced by Otter and Vixen, who lost 4-3 at Bushbury Arms ‘B’.

Red Lion consolidated their number one spot in the Aston League with a resounding 8-1 home win over bottom team Aston Flights. Riley’s kept within four points of the top with a close 5-4 verdict at Old Oscott WMC and they also have a game in hand on Red Lion.

Olton Crown kept their slim hopes of winning the division one title in the Forest of Arden Winter League alive by beating top team Riley’s Flights 5-4, this being Flights first defeat of the campaign having played 14 fixtures. The difference between the two teams is now just two points, Riley’s having two to play and Olton just one.

Three teams are level on 22 points at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League. Bull Terrier head the trio, a 6-3 win over Rowley Olympic giving them a two point’s lead on average over Bulls Head (Rowley), who won 8-1 at Hunting Tree. The Bell had a 7-2 home win against Timbertree, but they have played one game more than the two teams above them.

It’s as you were at the top of the Tamworth League after the top five teams all produced wins this week. Leaders Three Horse Shoes were awarded a win against Anchor Inn to put them on 134 points, a huge 21 points lead on second in the table Old Liberal House, who won 7-2 against Tam O’Shanter.
In the players league Paul Smallwood (Tam O’Shanter) had his lead reduced to three points after losing to Ron Hunt (old Liberal House) who is placed seventh out of a field of ten.

Riley’s Kings are still top of the pile in division one of the South Birmingham League on a maximum 18 points from nine games. Mackadown Social in third place are catching up on their outstanding games and now after completing six are on ten points and wins in the other three games in hand on Riley’s would see them move to within two points of the leaders. Second placed Crown at Shard End are on 14 points but have played 10 games.
