For the first time this season Warwickshire County Darts Organisation recorded back to back wins in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships. Following their 24-12 win over Surrey Warwickshire travelled to Wales to play Glamorgan and returned with a 23-13 victory to consolidate their fourth place in the table.

Saturday saw the ladies romp to a 5-1 win with Louise Graham (18.31) their top player, while the men’s ‘B’ side made it three consecutive draws, with Matthew Edgar (28.28) taking the match award in the 6-6 scoreline.

Sunday was good news all round as both the ladies and the men won. The ladies team had a 4-2 win with the impressive Trina Gulliver making it six straight match awards with a 23.81 average and for the men it was Nigel Heydon, who was in tremendous form registering a blistering 32.85 average in the teams 8-4 win.

After nineteen games the Brickmakers ‘A’ remain unbeaten in the Netherton Thursday League, their latest success being a 7-2 win at the Bull and Bladder. Second in the table Dudley Ex-Serviceman’s had a 6-3 home win over Cottage Spring, but are still a massive 12 points adrift of the leaders with a game in hand.

Third placed Brickmakers ‘B’ lost ground as they went down 5-4 at home to their nearest rivals Victoria and now 18 points behind their ‘A’ team are effectively out of the title race.

The bottom three teams Bull and Bladder, Pensnett and Bromley and bottom team Chainmakers ‘B’ in turn all lost 7-2 to Brickmakers ‘A’, Bulls Head ‘A’ and Prince of Wales.

It was cup week for the Forest of Arden Winter League. In the quarter finals of their Presidents Cup there were wins for The Crane and Riley’s Flights who each won 7-2 against Greville Arrows and Riley’s Red Arrows, while Olton Crown had an 8-1 result against Highwood ‘C’.

Just three rearranged fixtures played in the Sheldon and District Winter League this week and in the premier division Crown at Olton moved to within two points of leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners with a 6-3 home win over Riley’s Arrows. However, Crown have now played one game more than Saltley.

In division one there were 5-4 wins for Sheldon Social and Langley Hall Sports and Social, who in turn beat Ridgemere Flights and Forget-Me-Not.

Two teams, Roost ‘A’ and Swan dropped behind in the title race in the Cradley Tuesday Night League following defeats in their latest fixtures, Roost ‘A’ went down 4-3 at Victoria and as a result have fallen four places to seventh, while Swan dropped five places to ninth after a massive 6-1 loss away to second in the table Quarry Bank Liberal Club.

Leaders Brickmakers Arms held on to their four points lead with a 6-1 home win over Prince of Wales..

It was Knockout Cup week in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League in division one going through to the last eight are, Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Penn Bowling, Bushbury Arms, Pavilion, Oxbarn, Wednesfield Legion ‘A’ and Merry Boys, while in division two the winners were Wednesfield Legion ‘B’, Riley’s ‘B’, Corpus, Castle, Bull, Village ‘B’, Roebuck and Bradmore.

Played ten, won ten, that’s Gulp Tribe’s record in the Small Heath League, their latest win being a huge 8-1 home win against next to bottom Custard House Flights. Emerald Club, who are second had a 6-3 win at Custard House and stay six points off the top. .

No Change at the top of the Tettenhall Wednesday League as the top six teams all recorded wins. Brewood British Legion moved away from the foot of the table, chalking up their first win in six games a 4-3 win away to Bushbury Arms ‘B’.

In division one of the South Birmingham League Riley’s Kings, with a maximum from S.Hazlett extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 6-3 win against Mackadown Social, who are third in the table and have only played five games so far, this being their first defeat.

Another player to find the three treble twenties was I.Buttle (Yardley and District Rugby Club), his team losing their division two game with Centurion 5-4.

There were wins for the top five teams in the Vic Lloyd Thursday Night League, Cleveland Arms, with a 6-0 win against Staffordshire Knot ‘D’ continue to lead the field with a perfect 16 points from their eight games. Second in the table Quarry Bank’s 5-1 win at Orange Tree also keeps their 100% win record going, but they have played one game fewer than Cleveland and are on 14 points. Also on the same points as Quarry Bank are Staffordshire Knot ‘A’ and Wolverhampton Sports Arena, both of them having played eight games.

Belgrave still have a slender one point lead in the Pip Club League overall league table after beating Royal Oak 13-3. J.W.Belgrave and Dolphin are both just one point behind and in turn they had 11-5 wins over Sports Bar ‘180’ and Birchmoor Club.

In the seeded division one table J.W.Belgrave and Dolphin both have 26 points, but J.W. lead on average and also have a game in hand.

Begrave Club have a massive 14 points lead in division two and although second placed Pip Club have a game in hand, a win would still leave them trailing by 12 points.

Not good news for Sports Bar teams this week in the Tamworth League as bottom of the table Dolphin Inn beat Sports Bar ‘180’ 4-3 and by the same margin next to bottom Mile Oak Rovers won against Sports Bar.

There was also a shock for second in the table Old Liberal House as they lost their home tie 5-2 to third from bottom Globe Inn.

Three players are on 30 points at the top of the Players League, Kev Lawrence, Paul Smallwood and Trevor Barrs, Barrs having played 15 games to the other two’s 14.

The three top teams in the Rowley Monday Night League, Bull Terrier, Rowley Golf Club and Bell all recorded 6-3 wins this week over respective opponents Springfield Social Club, Rowley Rag and Ivy Bush ‘Z’.

Good news for bottom team Moon Under Water, who had their first win in the ten games they have played so far this season, a 5-4 win at The Crown.
