Glamorgan v Warwickshire
Playing their seventh fixture of the nine games season in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships, Warwickshire produced their best run of the campaign when they beat their hosts Glamorgan to make it two consecutive wins and in the process consolidate their fourth place in the table.
Saturday’s games saw the ladies make it two in a row with a super 5-1 win, Louise Graham their lady of the match with an 18.31 average.
The top player for the men’s ‘B’ team was anchor man Matthew Edgar, a 28.28 average in his 4-2 win over Chris Cahill. The game finished all square at 6-6.
Sunday was an even better day as the ladies won 4-2, Trina Gulliver (23.81) collecting her sixth consecutive lady of the match award and the men finished as 8-4 winners with Nigel Heydon putting on a fantastic display. Playing against Mark Salmon Nigel kicked off with an 11 darts leg hitting 140, 171, 100 and 90 game shot in two darts. The second leg was 17 darts, scoring 57, 140, 94, 55, 131 plus a 24 game shot, again in two darts. The third leg took 18 darts with throws of 58, 59, 180, 60, 112 and 32 game shot in three darts. The fourth and final leg was a 15 darts affair, scores of 140, 100, 100 and 91 leaving him 70 which he checked out on with his next three darts for a 4-0 win.
The overall score for the game was 23-13 to Warwickshire.
