The premier division title in the Sheldon and District Winter League has been thrown wide open after leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners lost 7-2 away to third in the table Old Bill and Bull. Saltley still lead the field on 26 points, but Crown at Shard End, who won 6-3 at Raven and Old Bill and Bull are now only two points behind. Fourth placed Crown at Olton had a 7-2 away win against EBAHA and are a further two points adrift.

It was a week for wins for the bottom teams as Holy Souls (premier) won 5-4 at home to Sheldon Dukes and in division one Ridgemere Flights chalked up their first win in fifteen games when they beat Yardley Ex Colts 6-3. Despite the wins both teams remain at the foot of their respective tables.

Olton Crown lost ground in the race for the Forest of Arden Winter League’s division one title as they surprisingly lost their home game with bottom of the table The Grange 5-4. Crown are now second two points behind Riley’s Flights, who won 6-3 at home to Old Bill and Bull, while The Grange moved off the bottom to be replaced by Highwood KB, who lost 6-3 at Riley’s Red Arrows.

Two results from division two, both 5-4, wins for Riley’s Wings and Crown Arrows in turn against Ivy Leaf and Highwood ‘C’.

It was cup week in the Four Oaks and District League, playing both their Coronation Shield and Norman Day Cup down to the final two teams. In the last four games of the Coronation Shield Red Lion Flights had a narrow 5-4 win over The Heartlands and will now play Sutton Sports in the final after they cruised through their tie with Anvil Nomads winning 8-1.

In the Norman Day Cup both encounters finished with a close 5-4 result. Old Oscott Arrows beat Sutton Park Hotel and third division winners The Beehive won against Pint Pot Flights.

The Gate, Colley Gate dropped three places in the Cradley Tuesday Night League after losing 5-2 at Chainmakers. Roost ‘A’ moved up from seventh to third with a 4-3 win over Jays Bar and Swan also moved up four places to fourth following their 4-3 win at home to Victoria. The table now sees Brickmakers Arms, who beat Yeltz Bar 4-3, top on 16 points and they are followed by Quarry Bank Liberal Club, Roost ‘A’ and Swan, all on 12 points. Quarry Bank Liberal Club won 4-3 at the Vine.

No fewer than four teams are on 16 points at the top of the Rowley Monday Night League. Bull Terrier and Rowley Golf Club are level not only on points but also on average at the top of the table, with Ivy Bush ‘Z’ and Bell trailing slightly on average behind them.

The South Birmingham League staged their doubles competition and taking the honours were Mohammed Anwar and Mark Birch, who beat S.Winters and C.Winters in the final.

Losing   semi finalists were Stuart Hazlett & Tony Comerford plus Will Naylor & Matt Gallett.

Bird in Hand moved away from the bottom of division one in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night league when they registered their first win in five beating Ashmore 5-2. Victoria dropped from third to sixth following their 4-3 home loss against Wednesfield Legion ‘A’, who despite the win drop a place because Village ‘A’ and Otter and Vixen both have a better average, all three teams have 8 points, two adrift of Wolverhampton Sports Arena, who beat Golden Lion 5-2 and top the table with a perfect 10 points.

In division two, Pyle Cock, who are fourth in the table slipped up losing 4-3 at home to Emerald, who moved up two places to eighth. At the other end of the table King Charles had their first win in five, a 5-2 home success over the Boat.

Wednesfield FC consolidated their number one spot in the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League when they beat Fordhouses CC 6-1, Fordhouses dropping four places to seventh and four points behind the leaders. The two Riley’s, ‘A’ and ‘B’ are joint second in the table, level on points and average, ‘A’ beat Whitmore Reans 5-2, while the ‘B’ won 6-1 at Brewood British Legion, leaving them both two points away from the top. Also on the same eight points as the Riley’s are Moreton and Bushbury Arms ‘A’. Once again both teams having big wins. Moreton accounted for Otter and Vixen with a 6-1 result while Bushbury handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their visitors Round Oak.

No change at the top of the Vic Lloyd Thursday Night league as all of the top four registered wins this week. Leaders Cleveland Arms had a 5-1 success away to Staffordshire Knot ‘C’ and have a two points advantage over Quarry Bank (bye), Staffordshire Knot ‘A’ (5-1 win at Whitmore Reans) and Wolverhampton Sports Arena (5-1 win at Staffordshire Knot ‘D). Quarry Bank have played one game fewer than the other top three teams.

The Tamworth league have been engaged with their Paul Caswell Memorial Cup, the second round winners were Old Liberal House, Three Horse Shoes, Mile oak Rovers and Three Tuns, Fazeley, who defeated respective opponents, Sports Bar ‘180’, Globe Inn, Tam O’Shanter and Wigginton.

In the semi finals Three Horse Shoes beat Old Liberal House 4-2 and meeting them in the final will be Three Tuns, Fazeley, who had a close 4-3 win over Mile Oak Rovers.

The two top teams in the Pip Club League played each other in the latest round of fixtures, a close game was expected and that is exactly how it turned out with the two teams sharing the honours in an 8-8 draw. Belgrave Club stay top on 25 points from 15 games, while Dolphin and J.W.Belgrave are just one point behind.

In the Aston League leaders Red Lion consolidated their position at the top of the table by beating their nearest rivals Sportsmans Rest 5-4. Red Lion’s lead is now six points, but Sportsmans do have a game in hand and could reduce that to four if they win.

Third placed Riley’s are on the same 18 points as Sportsmans, with a game in hand and two in hand on Red Lion, which could see them move to within two points of the leaders.

Only two results from the Small Heath League one of them being a vital top of the table clash between Gulp Tribe and Midland Darts Centre, Gulp Tribe were the convincing 7-2 winners extending their 100% record to nine games and 18 points, now six more than Darts Centre, who drop one place to third, they are level on the same 12 points as second placed Emerald Club but with an inferior average.

A 5-2 home win over bottom of the table Bordesley Labour Club has seen Midland Darts Centre extend their winning run to nine games in the Camp Hill League. Scruffy Ringers kept the pressure on the leaders with a similar 5-2 win in their home tie with Waggoners, but remain two points behind.
