It was cup week in the Four Oaks and District League, the Brian Goodman Cup and the Ken Rust Cup being played down to the last four teams. Riley’s Snooker Club was the setting for the Brian Goodman Cup and winning through to the final were, Sutton Sports and The Nomads, both winning 5-4 in turn against Anvil Nomads and Drakes Drum in the semi finals.

The Ken Rust Cup was staged at the Red Lion and again both last four games finished with a 5-4 result, Old Oscott Arrows beating The Beehive and Bishop Vesey accounting for Brookvale.

The quarter finals of the Punchbowl and Sheldon Shield were on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League. In the Punchbowl Crown at Shard End had a massive 8-1 win over Shirley RBL Flights, while EBAHA, Sheldon Dukes and Riley’s Arrows all won 6-3 against respective opponents Holy Souls, Highwood ‘B’ and Willclare Sports and Social.

Similarly in the Sheldon Shield, three of the games finished with a 6-3 margin, Langley Hall Sports and Social, Old Bill and Bull and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners taking out Riley’s Wings, Maggies and Shard End Social. Banbury Club had a 5-4 win against Castle Vale Residents Association.

Just one rearranged fixture played in the Camp Hill League this week, which saw Redhill Wanderers beat Waggoners 4-3 to move up into third place in the table on six points. Waggoners and Devil’s Club are also on the same number of points with an inferior average.

Bull Terrier have moved into pole position in the Rowley Monday Night League following their 9-0 win at Hunting Tree. Ivy Bush ‘Z’ and Rowley Golf Club are on the same 12 points as Terrier but have played one game more.

At the other end of the table Golden Cue chalked up their first win of the season a 6-3 success away to Fairfield.

The Tamworth League played off the first round of their Paul Caswell Memorial Cup, winners going through to the next round on March 19th are, Mile Oak Rovers, Old Liberal House and Globe Inn.

On the league front it’s as you were as the top three teams all win, Three Horse Shoes still leading the way on 108 points, Old Liberal House second with 99 and Three Tuns, Fazeley third with 74.

In the players league three players, Ash Bowyer, Kev Lawrence and Trevor Barrs are all on 12 points, Bowyer the man to watch as he has played one game fewer than the other two.

It’s a two horse race in division two of the Forest of Arden Winter League, The Crane lead the field on 20 points after a 7-2 win over Greville Arms, but second in the table Crown Arrows won their game with Ivy Leaf Bulls 8-1 and are on 18 points with a game in hand, but their rivals do have the better average.

The Swan suffered a setback to their title hopes in the Cradley Tuesday Night League when they lost their home tie with the Gate 5-2, their first defeat of the campaign. Brickmakers won 6-1 at the Boat to stretch their unbeaten run to six games they are two points ahead of both the Gate and Swan, who each have 10 points.

Netherton Sports and Social ‘B’ recorded their first win in the six matched so far, a convincing 6-1 home win over bottom team Roost ‘B’.

The South Birmingham League played off their Singles Knockout and taking the title was Mark Birch, who beat Mike McFall in the final. Losing semi finalists were Kevin White and Dean Marshall.

After the opening two fixtures have been played in the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League only five of the fifteen teams in division one are unbeaten. Village ‘A’ lead the division on average from Otter and Vixen, Wolverhampton Sports Arena, Penn Bowling and Wed Legion ‘A’.

In division two Electric lead a group of four undefeated teams, with Pyle Cock, Emerald and Riley’s ‘A’ the other 100% teams.

After two games Wednesfield FC top the Tettenhall Wednesday Night League on average, they together with Fordhouses CC, Riley’s ‘B’, Royal Oak and Bushbury Arms ‘A’ are the only unbeaten teams in the sixteen strong league.

A 6-0 home win over Staffordshire Knot ‘C’ has seen Quarry Bank head the Vic Lloyd Thursday Night League, but only by one point of average as Cleveland Arms beat Stile 5-1 and are level on the same eight points as the leaders. One point behind the leading pair is Staffordshire Knot ‘A’ who handed out a 6-0 whitewash to their visitors Grapes.

Despite being held to an 8-8 draw by Birchmoor Club, Belgrave Club still hold on to the top spot in the Pip Club League’s overall table with 22 points. Dolphin had a 12-4 win away to Travellers and are second with 21 points and a further point adrift is J.W.Belgrave who had a bye this week and now have a game in hand on the top two teams.

Gulp Tribe, leaders of the Small Heath League had a vital 6-3 home win over third in the table Emerald Club to give them a perfect 12 points from six games and open a four point’s gap between them and Emerald, who have also played one game more than Gulp. Second in the table Midland Darts Centre won their home tie against bottom team Clock Inn 7-2 and are two points behind Gulp Tribe with a game in hand, but an inferior average.
