The Fox Flights and Sutton Sports remain locked together at the top of division one in the Four Oaks and District League, with just one leg of average separating them. Sutton Sports reduced the gap this week with a 7-2 win against Old Oscott WMC, while Fox Flights had a close 5-4 success away to Anvil Nomads. Red Lion suffered a shock 9-0 defeat at the hands of the Old Oscott Arrows team and as a result have dropped one place to fifth, their victors holding on to third place two points behind the leading duo.

Special mention this week for Nomads man M.Archer, who recorded a maximum break of 170, something rarely seen nowadays, his team went on to win 8-1 against Boldmere Sports.

The second division also provided a shock result as Pint Pot Arrows won the last three games to beat the only remaining team in the league with a 100% win record, The Leopard 5-4. Deer’s Leap won 6-3 at the White Lion to stay within two points of Leopard.

Division three leaders The Beehive had to win the last three games to snatch a 5-4 win over third placed Brookvale, Plough and Barrows take over second place after a 6-3 win over Boldmere Oak.

It was cup week in the Sheldon and District Winter League, round two of the Punchbowl saw division two side Willclare Sports and Social beat premier division outfit Crown at Olton 5-4. Another shock was the 5-4 defeat of premier leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners by EBAHA.

Biggest winners of the round were Crown at Shard End (premier), who won 8-1 at George V (Division two). Other teams to progress into the next round were, Shirley RBL Flights, Sheldon Dukes, Riley’s Arrows, Holy Souls and Highwood ‘B’.

In round one of the Sheldon Shield Langley Hall Sports and Social, third in division one had a 6-4 home win over Kingshurst and District Labour Club, who are seventh in the premier division. Also going through to the next round were, Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, Banbury Club, Old Bill and Bull, Riley’s Wings, Shard End Social, Castle ale Residents Association and Maggies.

Midland Darts Centre consolidated their number one spot in the Camp Hill League by handing out a 7-0 whitewash to their hosts Custard House. “Darts Centre” are now two points clear of their nearest rivals Scruffy Ringer’s, who won their home tie with Devils Club 6-1. Crown Arrows lost 5-2 away to Waggoners and as a result the two teams have changed places in the table, Waggoners go third and Arrows fourth.

Three teams chalked up their first wins in the Rowley Monday Night League this week, Rowley Olympic won their home game with Allens Sports and Social Club 5-4 and by the same margin Rowley Rag and Fairfield both won away against respective opponents Yew Tree and Moon Under Water.

League newcomers Rowley Golf Club continue to impress stretching their unbeaten run to four games with a convincing 8-1 win at Golden Cue. Ivy Bush ‘Z’ have also won their four fixtures, while Bull Terrier and the Bell, who have only played three also boast an undefeated record.

Belgrave Club, top of the overall table in the Pip Club League, fought off one of their challengers this week and registered a 10-6 win over Dosthill Club, who as a consequence have dropped two places to fourth in the table. J.W.Belgrave have taken over the second spot following their 8-8 draw at Bulls Head (Polesworth) and Dolphin have moved into third place after beating Gate Inn 13-3, the biggest win of the week. Mark Stringer (Bulls Head) hit the only maximum of the week.

After their shock defeat in the Divisional Cup last week it was normal service resumed for Riley’s Kings in the South Birmingham League’s weekly fixture programme. A 6-3 home win over the Digby Hotel puts “King’s” on 14 points from seven games, six to the good on both Crown at Shard End and Mackadown Social, although Mackadown do have two games in hand. The two teams met each other this week, the home team, Mackadown Social taking the points with a 5-4 result.

A 7-0 win by Brickmakers Arms over Roost ‘B’ has seen them overtake Swan on average to lead the Cradley Tuesday Night League. Both teams are on maximum eight points, with Gate, Yeltz Bar and Victoria all two points behind them, Yeltz being the only one of the three to lose as they went down 5-2 at home to Jays Bar. Both Gate and Victoria had 6-1 away wins in turn against Prince of Wales and Netherton Sports and Social Club ‘B’.

Crown Arrows lost ground in the division two title race in the Forest of Arden Winter League, losing their first game in nine as they finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 result at home to Riley’s Wings, who are placed mid table. Crown Arrows are now second behind The Crane, who won 6-3 at Ivy Leaf, The two top teams on the same 16 points, Crane having the better average.

Highwood KB moved off the foot of the division one table, with their first win of the season and replacing them in the bottom spot is the team they beat 7-2, The Grange. Highwood ‘A’ lost 5-4 at the Harvester and are now six points behind leaders Riley’s Flights with a game in hand. Riley’s Flights won their home game with Riley’s Red Arrows 5-4.

No change at the top of the Aston League, still very close as the top two teams Sportsmans Rest and Red Lion both won 7-2, in turn beating Erdington Arrows and Safe Harbour. The two teams are on14 points from eight games, with Riley’s, who also won 7-2 against Heartlands, just two points behind having played one game fewer than the top two.

Sportsmans rest player I.Lloyd notched the only 180 of the week.

There was a setback for Ash Bowyer (Wigginton) in the Players League of the Tamworth League as he lost to Sports Bar ‘180’ man Trevor Barrs. Bowyer remains in the top spot but is now joined on the same 27 points by Kev Lawrence (Three Horse Shoes) who beat Mile Oak Rovers representative Pete Cheneler.

Three Horse Shoes continue to dominate the main league, a 6-1 win over Mile Oak Rovers giving them a seven points cushion over Old Liberal House (formerly Boot Inn), who had a similar 6-1 win hosting Sports Bar.
