With three defeats in their opening three fixtures in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships, Warwickshire will be looking to put a halt to that run and come up with a win this coming weekend when they play hosts to Devon at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry.

The current position in the league table shows Warwickshire in eighth place on 47 point’s, their opponents are just one place above them and only three points to the good, so a win would certainly see them move away from the foot of the table.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners held on to their four points lead at the top of the premier division in the Sheldon and District Winter League in style beating Riley’s Arrows 8-1. Kingshurst and District Labour Club moved three places up the table to fifth with a 5-4 win at bottom of the table Holy Souls, while EBAHA, who are next to bottom recorded only their third win in eleven when they won 6-3 at the Raven.

Division one top team Shirley RBL Flights travelled to third placed Langley Hall Sports and Social, returning with a 6-3 win. Second in the table Banbury Club won 7-2 away to Yardley Ex Colts, but remain four points behind Shirley.

Division two produced a top of the table clash with leaders George V playing away to second placed Willclare Sports and Social, the result a close 5-4 win for George to open up a four points lead. Bottom team Ivy Leaf chalked up their second win in eleven games by winning 5-4 at Highwood ‘B’ who are fourth in the table.

The semi finals of the Challenge Cup Knockout were on the fixture card for the Pip Club League and in division one there were wins for J.W.Belgrave and Dolphin, in turn beating Bulls Head (Polesworth) and Birchmoor Club.

The winners from division two were Belgrave Club and Travellers, with Pip Club and Old Liberal Club the losers.

The South Birmingham League staged the first round of their Roy Parry Cup. Biggest winners from the round were Riley’s Kings who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their opponents Toby Jug. The Crown were not far behind as they won 8-1 against Yardley and District Rugby Club. Mackadown Social were also big winners as they defeated The Digby Hotel with a 7-2 result. Other winners going into the next round are, Coleshill Social, Smithswood Social and Banbury Flights. Kingfisher and raven both had a bye.

This coming Friday the Four Oaks and District League will be taking on the Sports Argus Charity team at the Red Lion, Station Road, Erdington. Division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League staged a battle of the Highwood’s this week and surprisingly it was Highwood KB who beat Highwood ‘A’ 5-4. Highwood ‘A’ are currently third in the table, while KB are bottom and this was their first win in seven games.

In division two there were wins for the top three teams, leaders Crown Arrows won 6-3 at home to Ivy Leaf, second placed The Crane won 8-1 away to Sheldon Flights and Highwood ‘C’ beat Ivy Leaf Bulls 7-2.

The top two teams in the Camp Hill League played each other this week, leaders Midland Darts Centre hosting Scruffy Ringers. The result was a narrow 4-3 win for Darts Centre to open up a four points lead over their opponents, who are now level on points with Crown Arrows, who had a 4-3 home win over Custard House.

The Tamworth League recorded something of a shock this week as leaders Three Horse Shoes lost their home game against second in the table Boot Inn 4-3. The last time that the “Shoes” lost in the league is almost two years ago when in February 2011 they were beaten 4-3 by Sports Bar ‘180’, they won the league title in the 2011/2012 season without losing a game.
