Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be travelling north this coming weekend to take on Cheshire at the Rudheath Social Club, Middlewich Road, Rudheath, near Northwich in this the latest of their premier division games in the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships.

Without a win in their opening two games Warwickshire will be hoping to break their “Duck” and move up the table. Cheshire are just three points to the good on Warwickshire, so a win for the away team is not out of the question.

Yardley Arms lost ground in the title race in division one of the Sheldon and District Winter League going down 6-3 away to divisional leaders Shirley RBL Flights, who made it seven straight wins.

Small Heath Amateur Gardeners in division two also lost for the first time in six games, they too lost 6-3 away to Maggies. In the same division bottom team Riley’s Wings chalked up their first win in seven, a close 5-4 home win over Plume of Feathers, who are in a mid table position.

In the premier division it’s still tight at the top, the top two teams Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Riley’s Arrows both winning 5-4 against respective opponents Old Bill and Bull and Kingshurst and District Labour Club. The two teams are both on 10 points, Saltley having the slightly better average.

It was cup week in the Small Heath League, first the final of the League Cup, which went to the wire with Emerald Club just grabbing a 5-4 win over Custard House.

The final of the Upside Down Cup was a different affair with division one champions Scanlons taking on the first division’s wooden spoon winners Wagon and Horses. The result was an emphatic 8-1 success for Scanlons.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League Red Lion Flights lost their opportunity of reducing the deficit on divisional leaders Sutton Sports when they lost 6-3, leaving them fourth in the table and four points off pole position. Old Oscott Arrows won 5-4 at home to Fox Flights to take them into second place, two points to the good on their opponents, who are third on average from Red Lin Flights and The Nomads, all three of them on six points.

Drakes Drum and The Leopard remain unbeaten at the top of division two, in turn winning their home tie’s with Pint Pot Arrows 6-3 and Sutton Park Hotel 7-2. Third placed Deer’s Leap Stags, who are two points behind the leading duo had a close 5-4 win at Pint Pot Flights.

Three teams, The Beehive, The Heartlands and Plough and Barrows are all on eight points at the top of division three. Beehive beat Bishop Vesey 7-2, Heartlands had a similar win away to Highcroft Dragons whose R.Thrupp hit a 180, while for the visitors S.Cain produced a fantastic maximum finish of 170 and team mate W.Naylor hit a 180.

Other players hitting maximums this week were, D.G.Bond (Red Lion Flights) and A.Stainfield (Deer’s Leap Stags).

Plough and Barrows had a close 5-4 home win over Brookvale.

The finals of the Three Tuns Trophy was on the fixture card for the Tamworth League, in the semis the Sports Bar ‘180’ beat Wigginton 4-1, while league leaders Three Horse Shoes had a clear cut 4-0 success over Mile Oak Rovers.

The final was another 4-0 whitewash, Three Horse Shoes winning the title with Sports Bar ‘180’ runners up.

It was cup week in the South Birmingham League, with the preliminary rounds of both the Roy parry Cup and the Knockout Cup. In the former there were 6-3 wins for Mackadown Social and Riley’s Kings, in turn defeating The Trident and The Punchbowl.

In the knockout Cup there was just one game, again a 6-3 result with Banbury Flights accounting for The Toby Jug.

Week two in the Forest of Arden Winter League and of the nine teams in division one only three remain unbeaten. Riley’s Flights who won 8-1 at home to The Grange are top on average with Greville Arrows second following their 5-4 win against Highwood KB. Making up the trio is Highwood ‘A’, who won 5-4 at Riley’s Red Arrows.

In the second division Highwood ‘C’ are top, an 8-1 victory hosting Greville Arms giving them an average advantage over their nearest rivals The Crane, who won their home tie with Chelmsley Town 6-3.

After the first five games in the Pip Club League just one leg of average separates Dosthill Club and Dolphin at the top of division one, the latest round of fixtures seeing Dosthill beat Old Liberal Club 13-3 and Dolphin win 12-4 against Two Gates Club.

In division two Belgrave Club lead the field with seven points, three more than their nearest rivals Travellers, who lost 12-4 to J.W.Belgrave this week, Belgrave Club won 9-7 at Bulls Head (Polesworth).
