The Sheldon and District Winter League have played off the preliminary round of their League Cup. Saltley Amateur Gardeners were the biggest winners in the premier division, beating Crown at Shard End 6-3. There were 5-4 wins for Kingshurst and District Labour Club and Crown at Olton against respective opponents Old Bill and Bull and Iron Horse.

In division one Banbury Club and Shirley RBL Flights in turn defeated Shard End Social and Yardley Arms by 7-2. Langley Hall Sports and Social got through the round with a 5-4 verdict over Forget-Me-Not.

There were also 7-2 wins for division two teams Maggies and George V at the expense of Plume of Feathers and Meadway Sports and Social, while Riley’s Wings edged out Highwood ‘B’ with a 5-4 result.

There were maximum scores of 180 for A Caddick (Saltley Amateur Gardeners) and K.Hopton (Shirley RBL Flights).

Week two in the Four Oaks and District League and although there were only two maximums recorded there were no fewer than seven 160 breaks. In division one The Fox Flights went 4-0 up away to division leaders Sutton Sports but were unable to capitalise and went down 5-4, maintaining an opening 100% win record for Sutton. The only other unbeaten team in the division, Red Lion Flights, had a 6-3 win at The Nomads to put them level on points and average with Sutton Sports.

Biggest winners in division one were Old Oscott Arrows who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Boldmere Sports.

Newly promoted Drakes Drum continued their winning run in division two with a 7-2 home win over Sutton Park Hotel. The Leopard, after a 5-4 home win over Deer’s Leap Stags are the only other team in the division to have won both opening games.

In the third division Bromford Club took the last two games at Brookvale to secure a 5-4 win and stay level on points with divisional leaders The Heartlands, who won 6-3 at The Beehive.

With the division one title in the Small Heath League already secured, Scanlons still went all out for a win in their home tie with Wagon and Horses and recorded a convincing 7-2 victory. Emerald Club finished as runners up, but only just as Custard House won 5-4 away to Mitre and should they have won 7-2 would just have pipped Emerald into second place by one point of average. Both teams finished two points behind Scanlons.

The second division champions, Midland Darts Centre lost their final game of the season to runners up Redhill Tavern. The game finished 5-4 to Redhill, to make it a double over their hosts, and be the only team to defeat Midland Darts Centre this season, however, the win still left them two points adrift of the title. C.Chidler (MDC) hit the only maximum of the night.

The Camp Hill League staged the finals of their Singles Knockout and taking the title with a final win over Daryl Jelly (Lady Westminster) was Langley Lads man Dan Heath.

Losing out in the last four were Chris Reed (Custard House) and Dave Logan (Scruffy Ringers).

Its congratulations to Jason Hart, captain of the Wilson Hall team and his team mates who with a 6-3 win away to Springfield Social wrapped up the Rowley Monday Night League title with two games to play. Wilson Hall have 52 points, their nearest rivals the Boat, who have taken over the second spot from Gate Hangs Well are six points behind. Boat had a 7-2 win at home to Hunting Tree, while Gate Hangs Well lost by the same margin away to sixth placed Ivy Bush ‘A’.

On the fixture card for the Forest of Arden Summer League was the division two finals of their Divisional Cup. The semi finals saw Highwood chalk up a massive 7-0 victory over Riley’s Wings, while bottom of the table Ivy Leaf beat Highwood KB 5-2.

In the final Highwood were again in top form and only required the first four games to get a winning result, the score being Highwood 4 Ivy Leaf 0.

Having played five games in the new season of the Warwickshire Men’s Super League, last seasons runners up, Coventry Bishopsgate are top on 37 points. Their nearest rivals are reigning champions Leamington, who are just two points behind them. Third placed Rugby have 33 points, but have a game in hand on both of the two teams above them.

At this early poit of the season there are only three teams without a win so far and they are Shirley Red Lion, Long Itchington and Coventry Railway.

After the opening three fixtures in the Pip Club League’s new season and new format, Dolphin lead the combined league and division one with six points. All of the top five places in the combined league are held by division one teams and in turn are Dolphin, Bulls Head (Polesworth), Sports Bar ‘180’, Dosthill Club and J.W.Belgrave Club.

Division two leaders Belgrave Club are the highest placed second division team in the combined league, currently in sixth position, three points behind Dolphin.

Three Horse Shoes are carrying on where they left last season off in the Tamworth League, their latest 6-1 win over Sports Bar ‘180’ giving them a total of 35 points, ten more than second place Three Tuns, Fazeley, after only four games. Three Tuns won their tie at Mile Oak Rovers 4-3.

Sports Bar moved three places up the table into third place with a 4-3 win away to Dolphin Inn, who lie next to bottom placed Tam O’Shanter.
