Playing at home proved to be no advantage whatsoever for Warwickshire in their Riley’s BDO Inter County Championship premier division tie with Oxfordshire. Saturday’s games were the best of the weekend with the ladies ‘B sharing the points in a 3-3 draw with Louise Graham (19.78) taking her second consecutive lady of the match award and the men’s ‘B’ winning 8-4, their match award shared by Mark Archer and Steve Giddings, both having a 27.70 average.
Sunday saw the ladies lose 4-2, the good point being Trina Gulliver (21.57) returning to winning ways and being the top player. Tom Aldridge (26.03) was the men’s ‘A’ award winner as the team went down 8-4.
However, it was not all bad news, despite the 19-17 defeat, the fact that other teams lost also meant Warwickshire actually moved off the foot of the table and up two places.
