Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will play their second fixture of the season in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships this coming weekend and will be hoping to record their first win.

After a tough opening game away to Yorkshire, the local county will now be hosting mid table Oxfordshire at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry and need a win to take them off the foot of the table.

What a turn around there was in week two for EBAHA in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. In the opening games EBAHA lost 8-1 to Iron Horse, in their latest fixture they actually won 8-1 away to Holy Souls. It was not good news for Holy Souls as they lost 7-2 last week to Kingshurst and District Labour Club.

Iron Horse added a 6-3 win over Highwood ‘A’ to their opening day win and now have a two points lead at the top of the table, however, Crown at Shard End and Saltley Amateur Gardeners have only played one game which they both won.

In division one three teams remain unbeaten, Shirley RBL Flights lead the field on average after their 7-2 win at Forget-Me-Not, Banbury Club, who won 5-4 at Langley Hall Sports and Social are second, and making up the trio are Yardley Arms with a 6-3 win away to Shard End Social.

A 6-3 win at Highwood ‘B’ puts George V in pole position in division two, with Meadway Sports and Social and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, just two points behind with a game in hand.

There is still time to enter a team in the forthcoming season of the South Birmingham Winter League, which will get underway on the 22nd October.

The league would like to thank Roy Parry for all the hard work and time he put into running the league for the last 30 plus years, as he has now decided to retire and taking over at the reins will be Sue Kingdon and Brian Johnson

The quarter finals of the Upside Down Cup were on the Small Heath League’s fixture card, biggest winners were Wagon and Horse who had a 7-2 win against Custard House Flights. Redhill Tavern beat Cobs Bar 6-3 and there was a 5-4 win for Sheldon Marlborough Flights over the Clock. Joining the three winners in the semi’s will be Scanlons, who had a bye.

Scanlons were involved in a rearranged league fixture which saw them hand out a massive 8-1 defeat to Mitre.

The Sutton and District Summer League rounded their season off with various cup finals and their singles knockout.

Adding his name to the winner’s silverware in the singles knockout was C.Packer, who beat J.Collins 2-1 in a very close final. Losing semi finalists were M.Archer, who lost 2-0 to Packer and B.Godfray, who lost by the same margin to Collins.

There was a narrow 5-4 win for the Leopard in the final of the Alan Slater Shield, and with the same scoreline Heartlands beat Deer’s Leap Stags in the final of the Prestridge Shield.

The Roy Bird Shield final was much more clear cut affair with Pint Pot Nomads beating White Lion 7-2.

The Forest of Arden Summer League was engaged in the finals stages of their League Cup. In the semi finals Highwood, who have won the division two title beat current division one leaders Riley’s Red Arrows 5-2, while Riley’s Flights had a 6-1 win over Crown Arrows.

The final saw Highwood once again putting up a brave display against division one opponent’s, but this time they narrowly lost out by 4-3 to Riley’s Flights.

In the fourth week of the Warwickshire Men’s Super League, Rugby added a convincing 7-1 win away to Long Itchington to their previous two wins over Birmingham Erdington and Shirley Red Lion. Bishopsgate were also 7-1 winners in their home tie with Birmingham Erdington, while Four Oaks and Sutton Sports each won 6-2 against respective opponents Shirley Red Lion and Birmingham Bartley Green.

After the opening two fixtures of the season in the Aston League four teams are on the maximum four points, Kingstanding Ex-Serviceman’s, Sportsmans Rest, Oscott Social and Red Lion. Kingstanding and Sportsmans both had 8-1 wins in turn against Old OScott WMC and Safe Harbour, while Oscott Social won 5-4 against Heartlands Club and Red Lion won 6-3 in their tie with Riley’s. Just one other team are unbeaten and they are Deer’s Leap who have only played one game, they began their campaign this week with a 5-4 win at Aston Flights.

Reigning champions of the Tamworth League, Three Horse Shoes moved back into pole position this week with a 5-2 win at Mile Oak Rovers. Shoes now have 17 points from two games, one more than second in the table Sports Bar ‘180’ who won 4-3 at Wigginton.

Maximums were hit by Steve Taft (Sports Bar) and Andy Brennan (Wigginton), while Alan Carter (Boot Inn ‘B’) had a 150 game shot and a 21 darts leg of 701.
