It was first plays second in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League when leaders Riley’s Castle Vale entertained second in the table Highwood Arrows. The result was a clear cut 7-1 to the hosts to give them 18 points and open up a six points lead over their opponents.
New Firs Flights suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost 5-3 at home to Custard House ‘B’. Firs remain in the top spot on 14 points but have had their lead reduced to two points over Custard House ‘B’, who also have a game in hand.
There was also a shock defeat for group three leaders Shirley RBL Flights, who went down 5-3 at home to fourth in the table Ridgemere Flights. George V ‘A’ missed their chance to go top when they were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw away to bottom of the table Maggies. George V ‘A’ are now level on points with Shirley RBL Flights, but trail on average.
Langley Hall Sports and Social have ousted from second place in group four after a 4-4 home draw with Sheldon Social. Taking over the number two spot is Crown Arrows Shard End, who won 5-3 at Custard House ‘A’. Scanlons hang on to their two points lead at the top of the table following their 5-3 home win over Willclare Sports and Social.
The top of the table clash in group five between leaders Centurion and their nearest rivals Shirley RBL Misfits finished all square at four each, the same scoreline by which group six leaders Ridgemere Arrows had with third placed Greville Arms.

This week saw the Small Heath League hold their Singles Knockout at the Custard House and attract no fewer than 47 entries. In the first of the semi finals Neil Parsonage of the Emerald Club played Paul Brown from the Custard House. The first two legs were shared, Neil taking the first with a tremendous 154 checkout he then went on to win the tie.
In the second of the semi’s another Emerald man, Liam Fox took on Nick Walker representing Scanlons. In a very close game it was Liam who found the finishing doubles to set up an all Emerald Club final.
Parsonage was in great form in the final winning 2-0 against a very worthy opponent Liam Fox.

The South Birmingham League have gone through something of a reorganisation period, but now with everything sorted they are preparing for their forthcoming winter season. There were big wins for both of the top two teams in division one of the Forest of Arden Summer League this week with leaders Riley’s Red Arrows winning 6-1 at bottom of the table Chelmsley Arrows and second placed Riley’s Flights handing out a 7-0 whitewash to their hosts Old Bill and Bull.
In division two Highwood KB lost ground in the title race as they lost 4-3 at home to next to bottom Ivy Leaf, their first win of the their seven game season so far. Top team Highwood extended their lead to four points with a 5-2 win away to bottom team Chelmsley Flights however, Highwood KB do have a game in hand.

The top three teams in the Rowley Monday Night League all won this week to leave the title race as you were. Leaders Wilson Hall had a 7-2 away win against Hunting Tree, while Gate Hangs Well, who are second in the table and just two points adrift of Wilson also won 7-2 at home to Golden Cue. The Boat, who are a further two points behind won 8-1 in their home tie with Rowley Olympic.

With Sutton Sports, leaders of division one in the Sutton and District Summer League having a bye this week, second in the table Fox Flights reduced the arrears to three points with a 5-4 win at the Leopard.
Division to is definitely a two horse race with leaders Red Lion Flights beating Erdington Arrows 7-2 and Pint Pot Nomads, who trail Red Lion by average only, defeated Old Oscott WMC 6-3. Both teams with 20 points are eight ahead of third placed Erdington Arrows.
Drakes Drum record up to last week read played 10 won 10, but this week they travelled to take on second placed Heartlands and were shell shocked, returning on the wrong side of an 8-1 result. The defeat leaves Drakes Drum still top on 20 points, their lead now reduced to five points.
The league have also played off their Jubilee Cup and Ladies Cup knockouts, winners of the Jubilee were Red Lion ‘A’, who in the final beat Fox Flights 3-2. In the last four playoff Red Lion won 3-1 against Drakes Drum Villains and Fox beat Sutton Sports ‘B’ 3-0.
The ladies event was won by N.Gilbert with N.Harris runner up. Losing semi finalists were G.Lynch, who lost to Gilbert and D.Spink.
