With only two weeks of league fixtures remaining in the Sutton and District Summer League a couple of the main issues have already been decided. In division one Sutton Sports 6-3 win away over their main rivals for the title Fox Flights gives the a total of 16 points, five more than their opponents and also the divisional title.

In the third division Drakes Drum, who in a rearranged fixture with Deer’s Leap Stags won 6-3 and took their unbeaten run for the season to ten games and at the same time extending their point’s advantage over second in the table Heartlands to seven points and again the divisional title.

The second division is a much closer affair with Red Lion Flights and Pint Pot Nomads battling it out for the top honours. Red Lion Flights had a bye this week Pint Pot Nomads took full advantage to reduce the arrears as they chalked up a 7-2 away win over third in the table Erdington Arrows. Nomads are now level on games and points with Red Lion Flights but trail slightly on average, looks as though it will go to the wire before a verdict is reached.

With the majority of teams in the Sheldon and District Summer League having two fixtures remaining a 7-1 win away to Riley’s Solihull almost guarantees Riley’s Castle Vale the group one title. Riley’s C.V. are now on 16 points four ahead of Highwood Arrows with a superior average.

Group two is a two horse race between New Firs Flights and Custard House ‘B’, the former leading the way on 12 points and the latter trailing by two, on 10. Group three is also close with Shirley RBL Flights top having 12 points and George V ‘A’ just one point behind them after the two teams played each other and the hosts, George V ‘A’ won the tie 5-3.

Scanlons recorded a vital 5-3 win over Langley Hall Sports and Social in group four, ousting their opponents form pole position to take over the top spot with a two point’s advantage. Custard House ‘A’ moved off the foot of the table with a 6-2 win at Sheldon Social, Willclare Sports and Social, who lost 5-3 at home to Crown Arrows go bottom.

In group five leaders Centurion took their unbeaten run to eight games in real style, handing out 1n 8-0 whitewash to bottom of the table Custard House Flights. Now with 14 points Centurion are the group winners, the biggest battle is for the runners up spot between Shirley RBL Misfits and Shard End Social, the latter beating the former 6-2 in the latest fixture to put both teams on 9 points.

Just two points of average separate the top two in group six, Ridgemere Arrows just ahead of George V ‘B’ on average, both of them on 12 points.

The Forest of Arden Summer League staged their League Cup quarter finals and in the three results so far all of the games went true to form. Riley’s Flights (Div 1) beat Highwood KB (Div 2) 6-1, Crown Arrows and Riley’s Red Arrows, both from division one, in turn defeated division two opponents Riley’s Wings and Ivy Leaf 4-3. Really the biggest shock was the close 4-3 result of Ivy Leaf, who are bottom of division two and Riley’s Red Arrows, who are top of division one.

The result from the Highwood (div 2) and Old Bill and Bull (div 1) game is yet to be confirmed.
