Congratulations to Warwickshire county player Nigel Heydon who won the recent Bedworth Grand Slam Darts Open competition. The event was staged at Jacks Entertainment Club, Bedworth and Heydon collected the top prize of £300 when he defeated fellow Warwickshire county man Trevor Frost in the final, Frost receiving £10.

Respective third and fourth placed Alan Carter and Paul Kingard each picked up £45.

Nigel also added the Rugby Open title to his ever increasing list plus a further £120 to the coffers. Runner up was Rob Singleton.

It was cup week for the Sheldon and District Summer League, the second round of their Mrs F.Richman Cup. Only two results were a little surprising, George V ‘A’ from group three, had a 4-3 away win against Old Bill and Bull from the group above them. The other surprise was a 5-2 home win for leaders of group three Shirley RBL Flights, who recorded a 5-2 success over Pavilions from group two.

Biggest winners of the round were Iron Horse (Group One) who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to their group five visitors Small Heath Amateur Gardeners. In the battle of the Riley’s Castle Vale beat Riley’s Solihull 6-1, there were also 6-1 wins for Highwood Arrows and Sheldon Dukes, who in turn accounted for Langley Hall Sports and Social and Holy Souls.

Other winners from the round were, Crown at Olton and Highwood Flights who took out Centurion and Maggies.

Just one rearranged league fixture was played in group six, George v ‘B’, with a maximum from David Sutton beat Ivy leaf Flights 6-2.

The Pip Club League had the semi finals of their Shadow League Knockout on the fixture card the results going more or less as expected. In division one there were wins for Birchmoor Club and Dolphin against respective opponents Belgrave Club and J.W.Belgrave Club, while in division two Travellers beat Old Liberal Club and Royal Oak booked their final place with a win over Two Gates Club.

The Warley League have played off their Trebles Knockout and taking the honours were Cricketers Ian, comprising of I.Hebberts, P.Evans, R.Swindell and K.Baker. Runners up were Bell ‘A’ representative side M.Tibbetts, T.Brenan, B.Gillies and A.Lynch.

Losing semi finalists were, Cricketers Deano (M.James, E.Price, D.Fletcher, A.Forrester) and BrandhallLabour Club (Mick Ferney, Matt Ferney, Dan Ferney).

In addition to their presentation the Tamworth Sports Bar League and Let’s Play Knockout Darts will be presenting Mark ‘Mile High’ Hylton and Ian ‘Diamond’ White in a “High and Whitey Exhibition” in aid of SSAFA Forces Help at Tamworth Sports Bar, Victoria Road, Tamworth this coming Saturday.

PDC players Mark and Ian will be taking on players from the league and also members of the audience.

Its Riley’s leading the way in division one of the Forest of Arden Summer League, a 5-2 win at Greville Arrows puts leaders Riley’s Red Arrows on 10 points from 6 games and just two points behind them in second spot is Riley’s Flights who had a 4-3 home win over Harvester.

In the second division Highwood extended their unbeaten run to six games when they won 5-2 at Ivy Leaf. However, with a maximum 12 points Highwood are just two ahead of Highwood KB who beat Greville Arms 4-3 and have a game in hand on the leaders.

With Emerald Club, leaders in division one of the Small Heath League having a free week this week Custard House chalked up a close 5-4 win at home to Mitre to put them on level terms with Emerald and go joint top of the table.

Bottom team Wagon and Horses hosted Scanlons who romped to a 7-2 victory to keep them in third place just two points off the top.

In division two, top team Midland Darts Centre suffered their first defeat of the campaign, a 5-4 reversal away to third placed Redhill Tavern. Sheldon Marlborough Flights drew level on points with Midland Darts Centre after a 6-3 home win over Custard House Flights and now only trail on average.

At the Clock, Cobs Bar were the visitors and with both teams looking for points after some patchy opening form in the league it was the home team that secured the win with a 5-4 result.

Top played bottom in the Camp Hill League when Langley Ladies hosted top team Forgers. The result was an emphatic 7-0 to Forgers to consolidate their four points lead over Scruffy’s Ringers, Custard House and Redhill Tavern. Scruffy’s won 5-2 at Crown Arrows, Custard House had their game with Royal George cancelled and Redhill beat Roosters 5-2.

In the Rowley Monday Night League fourth placed Ex-Serviceman’s lost to their nearest rivals Ivy Bush ‘Z’ 6-3 and now only have a two point’s advantage over them. The top three teams Wilson Hall, Gate Hangs Well and the Boat all won.

An 8-1 home win over the Leopard has put Sutton Sports well on the way to clinching the division one title in the Sutton and District Summer league. They now have a three points lead over Fox Flights who do have one game in hand.

Red Lion Flights lead the way in division two on 18 points following their massive 6-3 win at Pint Pot Nomads, who are second in the table on 16 points, and although they have a game in hand would still trail on average if they won it.

Drakes Drum are a clear five points leaders of division three and they have played one game fewer than second placed Heartlands.
