Week six in the Sheldon and District Summer League saw Riley’s Arrows pick up their first point of the season in group one. Playing away to mid table Crown at Olton Riley’s earned a very creditable 4-4 draw. Riley’s at castle Vale stretched their winning run to six with a convincing 7-1 home win against Sheldon Dukes and hang on to their three points lead over Highwood, who won 5-4 as hosts to Iron Horse.

In group two leaders New Firs Flights were held to a 4-4 draw by third in the table Highwood Flights and as a result are now joined by Custard House ‘B’ on the same 10 points after their 6-2 win at home to Old Bill and Bull.

Shirley RBL Flights had a 5-3 win at Maggies to keep them in pole position in group three on 10 points, three more than three chasing teams, EBAHA, who lost 5-3 at Ridgemere Flights, George V ‘A’, who finished all square at 4-4 with Holy Souls and Ridgemere Flights.

Highwood KB’s lost ground in group five losing 5-3 away to Shirley RBL Misfits, who have replaced them in second place one point behind leaders Centurion, who beat Shard End Social 6-2.

Group six had both a top and bottom of the clashes when Ridgemere Arrows lost 6-2 at home to George V ‘B’, both teams are now have 8 points and are level on average. At the other end of the table local rivals Ivy Leaf ‘B’, who are next to bottom team Ivy Leaf Flights played each other, the outcome a 4-4 draw.

This coming Saturday Jacks Entertainment Club, 58 King Street, Bedworth, CV12 8JQ will be staging the first of hopefully many more to come Bedworth Grand Slam of Darts Knockouts. The event is a singles competition, £5 entry, prize money for the top four placed players and a guaranteed £300 prize for the winner. Players must be signed in by 12.30pm for a 1.30pm start.

The Forest of Arden Summer League got their Divisional Cup underway with the preliminary rounds for both divisions. Division one leaders Riley’s Red Arrows had a clear cut 6-2 win against Greville Arrows, while both Old Bill and Bull and Riley’s Flights each won 5-2 in turn playing away to Harvester and Crown Arrows.

In the division two games 5-2 was also the margin by which Ivy Leaf and Highwood won against respective opponents Chelmsley Flights and Greville Arms. This was Ivy Leaf’s first win of the season as they had previously lost all five of their league fixtures.

In the other division two game Riley’s Wings had a close 4-3 verdict away to Sheldon Flights.

It was cup week in the Sutton and District Summer League with no fewer than three cups on the agenda. First, the final of the Richard Winslow Shield which produced a battle of the Sutton’s, division one leaders Sutton Sports taking on third in the same division Sutton Park Hotel and winning 6-3. T.Vickers and M.Ashton hit maximums for Sports.

There was a shock in the semi finals of the Prestridge Shield, division two leaders Red Lion Flights losing 5-4 to Heartlands who are currently second in division three. The other last four play off was a clear 7-2 victory for Deer’s Leap Stags over Plough and Barrows.

The semi finals of the Roy Bird Shield also produced an unexpected result as White Lion, who are propping up the division two table beat third placed Old Oscott WMC 5-4. In the other semi final play off was another all division two affair with second placed Pint Pot Nomads beat second from bottom and local rivals Pint Pot Flights 8-1.

Only two teams had any movement in the Rowley Monday Night League table, Ex-Serviceman’s moved up a place to third after handing out a 9-0 whitewash away to next to bottom Fairfield and Ivy Bush ‘Z’ dropped one place to fifth after going down 5-4 at home to second in the table Gate Hangs Well.

Wilson Hall continue to lead the field with a two points advantage, their latest success being an 8-1 win at Golden Cue.

In division one of the Small Heath League Custard House suffered their first defeat of the campaign as they went down 6-3 at home to Scanlons, who had lost their only other game. Emerald Club drew level on both points and average with Custard House to share the top spot after a 7-2 home success over Wagon and Horses.

In the second division all three results ended with a 5-4 scoreline, there were wins for Cobs bar, Midland Darts Centre and Sheldon Marlborough Flights, who in turn defeated Custard House Flights, The Clock and Redhill Tavern.

The Camp Hill League staged their doubles competition at the Langley Hall Sports and Social Club and taking the honours with a final win over Arturus Bogucianskas and Glynn Thomas from the Custard House were their team mates Ian McLean and Tom White.

Losing semi finalists were D.Taylor and Richard Cuff snr (Forgers) and Eddie Martin and John Young (Devils Club).
