The 7-2 away win by Riley’s Arrows in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League must surely be the shock result of the season so far. Riley’s, who are in the bottom three of the division travelled to take on previously unbeaten in eleven games table toppers Olton RBL, despite the huge win Riley’s stay in the bottom three and Olton hold on to pole position with a reduced four points lead.

In division one leaders New Firs Flights finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 scoreline away to EBAHA and as a result are now on level points with second in the table Pavilions, just two legs of average separating them.

Division two produced a top of the table clash with second place Ridgemere Social leap-frogging leaders Castle Vale Residents Association, thanks to their 5-4 win. George V were knocked of the top of division three following their 5-4 home defeat by Custard House Flights, and taking over as leaders of the division are Shirley RBL Flights who had a 5-4 win at Crown Arrows.

After only four games just one team remains unbeaten in the Rowley League, Wilson Hall. Prior to the latest fixtures three teams had a 100% win record, but the Bell lost 7-2 away to the Boat and the other two teams Wilson Hall and Timbertree played each other with the former winning by a massive 8-1 to go clear leaders on 8 points. Ivy Bush ‘Z’ had taken over the number two spot just slightly ahead of six other teams on average after a convincing 8-1 win at Spring Meadow.

The top two teams and local rivals in division one of the Forest of Arden Winter League, Riley’s Flights and Riley’s Red Arrows met this week and the margin of the result was a somewhat surprising 8-1 in favour of Flights to give them 14 points, a two clear points advantage over Arrows.

Greville Arrows opened up a three points lead in division two with a 6-3 home win over Highwood KB, Arrows nearest rivals Greville Arms had their fixture with Riley’s Wings cancelled and are now three points adrift with a game in hand.

It was joy for the Fox Inn in division one of the Four Oaks and District League as they chalked up their first win of the season, after ten defeats they won 5-4 away to Boldmere Sports. The race for the first division title hots up as both Sutton Sports and Plough and Arrows in turn both won 8-1 against Old Oscott Arrows and Pint Pot Flights. The two teams are now on 20 points with just two legs of average separating them, but Plough and Arrows have played one game fewer than Sutton.

In division two leaders Pint Pot Nomads won 5-4 at Oscott Social Clarets and are on 18 points from 11 games. Second in the table Red Lion, after their 8-1 home win over Oscott Social Reds are on 16 points but they have only played 9 games.

Drakes Drum are way out in front in division three, they took the points tally to 22 with 1n 8-1 win at home against third in the table Deer’s Leap Stags to maintain their 100% win record and have their points advantage stretched to six points following Erdington Arrows 6-3 demise away to Plough and Barrows.

In the Small Heath League leaders mitre maintained their grip on the top spot with a 6-3 victory over Emerald Club despite losing the opening two games. Second placed Scanlons kept their challenge alive with a 7-2 win over bottom team Cobs Bar. Midland Darts Centre returned to winning ways with a somewhat surprising 6-3 win over Custard House.

It should be noted that the date for the charity game between the Small Heath League and the GULP Charity team has been rearranged and will no be played at the Custard House, Bordesley Green, on Saturday 10th March.

Tamworth Sports Bar League staged the first two rounds of their Mile Oak Rovers Challenge Cup and going through from the rounds were Sports Bar 180, Three Horse Shoes, Boot Inn and Sports Bar.

Bulls Head (Polesworth), whose Colin Wyatt hit a maximum, made it four straight wins in division one of the Pip Club League with a 13 -3 win away to J.W.Belgrave Club and are now two points clear of Red Lion who had a similar 13-3 win at Dolphin.

In the second division leaders Travellers were held to an 8-8 draw as they hosted third placed Sports Bar 180 and now have 7 points, as do Pip Club who won 11-5 at Two Gates Club.

Sportsman consolidated their number one spot in the Camp Hill League with a huge 6-1 home win over bottom of the table Scruffy’s Mob. The following pack of Forgers and Custard House are two points behind Sportsman, Forgers losing ground as they lost out 5-2 to their nearest rivals Custard House.

In the E.B.A.H.A. Double Top League the fixture between Martin Cooper and Eddie Bullock produced no fewer than seven three figure score with both players notching a maximum. The result was a close 2-1 to Cooper to lift him into second place in the table, six points behind leader Neil Parsonage who had 3-0 wins over Mark Hands and Joe Macken plus a 2-1 win against Matt Cooper, that game amassing ten scores of a ton or more, Cooper hitting 3×100 and 140, while Parsonage hit 3×100,123 and 136.
