It was not a good weekend for Warwickshire in the premier division of the BDO Inter County Championships as they lost their home tie with high riding Lancashire 22-14. Both men’s teams lost 7-5, the ladies ‘B’ had a crushing 5-1 defeat and the only highlight of the fixture was a 3-3 draw by the ladies ‘A’. Match awards went to Mark McGeeney (‘A’ 27.92), David Sanders (‘B’ 28.90), Trina Gulliver (‘A’ 24.80) and Kim Morris (‘B’ 14.97).

In division one West Midlands didn’t have much more success as they lost away to County Durham 21-15. The men were in fine form as the ‘A’ won 7-5 with Ian Jones (29.91) their top player, the ‘B’ went one better and won 8-4 with Paul Price taking the match award with his 27.30 average.
The ladies had a weekend to forget as both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ lost 6-0.

The Small Heath League played off their singles knockouts and taking the honours in the men’s event was Emerald Club’s Neil Parsonage with a final victory over Paul Gibbons from Cob’s Bar.
Becky Blakeman (Redhill Tavern) was the women’s winner, with again a Cob’s Bar representative as runner up, Sue Edwards.

Neil Parsonage continues to impress in the new E.B.A.H.A. Double Top League as he chalked up 3-0 wins against Jackie Francis and Tammy Brown plus a 2-1 success over Eddie Bullock to give him a total points of 22 from six games. Second placed Matt Cooper had three 3-0 wins in his games with Joe Macken, Tammy Brown and Dave Carter and is just one point off the leader but has played one game more. Martin Cooper, on 20 points is a further one point behind the leading duo.

It was the Shadow League Cup on the Camp Hill’s agenda and it produced wins for Waggoners and Scruffy’s Mob who in turn defeated Roosters and Devils.

The Punch Bowl and Sheldon Shield were the order of the day for the Sheldon and District Winter League. First round two of the Punch Bowl where George V from division three produced the shock of the round beating premier division team Highwood ‘A’ 5-4. Joining George in the hat for the next round will be, Riley’s, Old Bill and Bull, EBAHA, Crown, New Firs Flights and Saltley Amateur Gardeners.
In the preliminary round of the Sheldon Shield There were a couple of upsets when Custard House Flights (division three) won 5-4 away to premier division side Sheldon Dukes and another third division side, Shirley RBL Misfits won by the same margin at division two’s Ridgemere Social.

Round one of the Open Cup was on the Pip Club League’s fixture card and saw wins for J.W.Belgrave Club, Progressive Club, Dolphin, Red Lion and Birchmoor Club, all at the expense of Royal Oak, Two Gates Club, Sports Bar 180, Belgrave Club and Old Liberal Club.

Congratulations to Matt Gallett on winning the Birmingham Tours 3rd Friday Knockout at the Lincoln Poacher, Acocks Green.
Matt began the evening with two straight 3-0 wins and followed that with a superb 3-1 victory over Warwickshire county player Prakash Jiwa. In the final Adam Smith-Neale provided the opposition, but the 5-3 verdict went in favour of Matt Gallett.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League Sutton Sports and Deer’s Leap kept the pressure on leaders Plough and Arrows, both of them winning 8-1 away to respective opponents Anvil Nomads and the Fox Inn.
In the second division doubles were White Lion’s downfall as they lost 7-2 to Oscott Social Clarets. Old Oscott WMC continued their winning run with 6-3 win at Oscott Social Reds, but Pint Pot Nomads remain in pole position after a similar 6-3 win at the Leopard.
Drakes Drum took their winning run to ten games with an 8-1 home win over the Gate to stay top with a four points lead over Erdington Arrows, who have a game in hand on the leaders.

It could not be closer at the top of division one in the Forest of Arden Winter League with Riley’s Flights and Riley’s Red Arrows locked together on the same 12 points and also dead level on average. Flights had a 6-3 home win over third placed Highwood, while Arrows beat Old Bill and Bull 5-4.
In division two three teams are on 8 points, Greville Arms, Greville Arrows and Highwood KB. Highwood KB lost ground this week as they surprisingly went down 5-4 at home to next to bottom of the table Crown Arrows. KB have also played one more game than the two Greville’s.

After completing only three fixtures just three teams remain unbeaten in the Rowley League. Wilson Hall, who won 7-2 away to Ivy Bush ‘Z’ lead the field on average from the Bell and Timbertree, Bell had a 6-3 home win over Gate Hangs Well and are slightly ahead of Timbertree on average after their close 5-4 success at home to Golden Cue.
Four teams are still seeking their first points of the season, Golden Cue, Rowley Olympic, Prince of Wales and Spring Meadow.

Played eleven won eleven, that’s Three Horse Shoes record in the Tamworth Sports Bar League, their run giving them a ten points lead over second in the table Sports Bar 180 who had a 6-1 home win over Rugby Club.
In the players league Mark Tomlinson (Three Horse Shoes) lost ground as he lost out to Mile Oak Rovers man Jamie Hopkins this week. However, Tomlinson remains in second spot but now it’s a joint position with Brian Bird (Moat House), the two players are a massive nine points adrift of leader Trevor Barrs (Sports Bar 180) who with a win over Nathaniel Bailey (Rugby Club) took his points tally to 33.
