In group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League Riley’s Arrows lost ground in the title chase when they lost their home tie with Highwood Arrows 6-2, to leave them a massive seven points adrift of leaders Bromford Exiles, who won their fixture at home to Mackadown Social 7-1.

Taking over in second place is Iron Horse who had a 5-3 win at Olton RBL whose A.Hutchings notched an amazing three maximums and team mate S.Kennedy hit another.

In group two leaders Sheldon Dukes were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw by Bagot Arms, but still hold on to pole position with a two point’s advantage over Kingshurst and District Labour Club, who won their home game against Bagot Arms 7-1.

New Firs Flights returned to winning ways in group three, a 7-1 home win over bottom team Scanlons taking their points tally to 13, two more than Custard House ‘B’ who have moved up into second place after their 6-2 away win over Castle Vale Residents Association. Highwood Flights lost the number two spot after going down 5-3 at home to Pavilions.

In division one of the Pip Club League second placed Red Lion upped the pressure on leaders Birchmoor Club by handing out a 15-1 drubbing to Sports Bar 180. Birchmoor won their game against Dolphin 10-6 giving them 22 points from12 games, two more than Red Lion, who have only played 11.

It was top versus bottom in division two as Bulls Head (Polesworth) hosted bottom team Bulls Head (Two Gates). The result was a clear 12-4 win for the home side, who have amassed 25 points, two more than Bolehall Swifts in second place and although they have played one game more, they have a more superior average than Bolehall.

The top two teams and coincidentally two local rivals, Riley’s Red Arrows and Riley’s Flights squared up to each other this week in the Forest of Arden Summer League. As expected the outcome was a close 4-3 result with leaders Arrows getting the verdict to give them a two clear point’s advantage over the rest of the field.

The Camp Hill League have completed their league fixtures and Langley Hall have won the title. Langley went through the season without dropping a point, winning all fourteen of the games. Lady Westminster claimed the runners up spot with 24 points, four clear of third placed Sportsman.

Langley Hall finished as champions and local rivals Langley Hall Ladies took the wooden spoon, they plus Scruffy Murphy’s and Laddettes all ending the campaign with four points.

With leaders Mitre having no game this week it was down to Custard House and Emerald Club to try and close the gap at the top of the Small Heath League. Opponents for Custard House were Redhill Tavern, who were only able to filed five players. Despite a spirited performance Redhill finally went down 5-3 to put Custard House within one point of Mitre, but having played two games more.

Third placed Emerald Club were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw by bottom of the table Devils, this being Devils first point in nine games. The mid table tussle between Wagon and Horses and Custard House Flights saw the former win 6-2 and hold onto fourth place.
