The Sheldon and District Winter League rounded off their season with a series of semi finals and finals. The Punch Bowl semi finals produced the shock of the competition when Bagot Arms, who finished third in the table in division one beat the premier division champions, Olton RBL 6-3. In the other all premier tie, Kingshurst and District Labour Club won 5-4 against the Crown. Bagot Arms then went on to win the final against Kingshurst 5-4.
No shocks in the Sheldon Shield, Old Bill and Bull beating Castle Vale Residents Association 5-4 in the semi, and Pavilions winning 8-1 against Stechford Social. The final 5-4 result went in favour of Old Bill and Bull.
The Vice Presidents Trophy was won by Olton RBL’s Andy Hutchings, who in the final play off defeated Robbie Earl from New Firs Flights 2-1.
The Jubilee Trophy, was a competition between club secretaries and league officials, the eventual winner being Clarke Horsley representing George V, he had a 2-1 win over Match Secretary David Sutton in the final.

The Tamworth Sports Bar League, who are fast approaching the end of their fixture card, staged their doubles knockout. Taking the title with a final win over Richard Baker and Trevor Barrs were Sam and Paul Whittaker. Losing semi finalists were Mac Tarbuck and Rob Oates plus Stuart Birch and Paul Richards.

Langley Hall maintained their 100% win record in the Camp Hill League with a 5-2 win away to the Devils Club, taking their winning run to seven games. Second placed Lady Westminster remain just two points adrift of the leaders after a convincing 6-1 home won against The Roost. Third in the table Clements Arms were also 6-1 winners in their home tie with Scruffy Murphy’s.

The Forest of Arden Winter League is another league that is drawing to an end and as with all league’s they are in the process of playing off their various finals. Winning the men’s singles was Mark Osbourne, taking the ladies title was Ruth Gwilliam. Ruth the went on to make it a fantastic double when she teamed up with Pat Holmes to win the doubles knout.
Winning the men’s doubles were Paul Sunner and Graham Stamps.

After a break to hold their presentation the Small Heath League were back in action again this week, league leaders Mitre travelled to take on Wagon and Horses and despite the home side giving a good account of themselves the Mitre came away with a 7-1 victory to make it three straight wins so far. Emerald Club have also won their opening three games and trail Mitre on average only after winning 5-3 at Redhill Tavern, the sharper finishing of the Emerald team being the deciding factor.
Chalking up a maximum this week were Joe Fox from the Emerald Club and B.Lysaght from the Mitre. The league recorded another high scoring week with 73 scores of 100 or more.

Their was an upset in division one of the Pip Club League this week as leaders Birchmoor Club lost for the first time in seven games, going down by a huge 12-4 scoreline away to third placed Belgrave Club. Birchmoor remain in pole position but have now been joined on the same 12 points by Red Lion, who had an 11-5 home win over Sports Bar.
In division two Bolehall Swifts continue their fine run, an 11-5 win at Old Liberal Club making it eight consecutive victories and gives them a three point’s lead over their nearest rivals Bulls Head (Polesworth), who won their home game with North Warwick Cricket Club 12-4.
