A 5-4 win at Pavilions has seen Old Bill and Bull move up into second place in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Old Bill and Bull are now two points clear of their nearest rivals Kingshurst Labour Club and Saltley Amateur Gardeners and four points adrift of leaders Olton RBL, who also have a game in hand on the chasing pack, in division one congratulation’s go to bottom of the table Meadway Sports and Social, who after playing nine games chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-4 home success over Yardley Arms. At the other end of the table leaders Highwood ‘A’ won their home tie with Iron Horse 5-4 to remain three points clear.
It’s close in division two with only two points separating the top five teams. Forget-Me-Not are top with 16 points, the next four teams are all on 14, third placed Shard End Social has played one game fewer than the rest.

It’s still a battle of the Riley’s in the Forest of Arden Winter League, the top two teams still boasting a 100% win record. Leaders Riley’s Flights won a close 5-4 verdict against local rivals Riley’s Mixed, while second placed Riley’s Red Arrows reduced the difference in average with a 7-2 win at Greville Arrows. Third in the table Old Bill and Bull also won their game at Highwood ‘A’ 7-2, Harvester and Olton RBL are level on the same eight points, all three of them four behind the leading pair.

After completing just two fixtures in the Tamworth Sports Bar League Three Horse Shoes, who had a convincing 6-1 win at home to Riftswood are two points clear in pole position. Globe ‘A’, like Three Horse Shoes, have also won their first two games and are only two points adrift of the leaders.
In the players league just two of the ten players have an unbeaten record, Grant Harris (Wigginton) and Paul Whittaker (Three Horse Shoes). Both players have six points, twice as many as the five nearest to them. Geggy Wright (Globe ‘B’), Graham Gilliver (Globe ‘A’) and Wayne Deeley (Mile Oak Rovers) are all still seeking their first points of the season.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League, second placed The Fox took on second from bottom Deer’s Leap and came close to suffering an upset as they recorded a very close 5- 4 win. Leaders Sutton Sports stay on top on average from the Fox after a comfortable 6-3 win at Old Oscott Arrows.
In the second division, despite a 180 from T.Evans (White Lion) in the final leg of the match, his team were unable to stop Drakes Drum running out 5-4 winners. It took a 180 from J.West to clinch a 5-4 win for bottom of the division Aston Social against fourth in the table Grave Diggers. Top of the division Pint Pot Flights came from 4-2 down at home to mid table Royal Oak to win 5-4 and remain undefeated and four points clear of Anvil Nomads.
Brookvale staged a remarkable come back against Oscott Social Reds from 4-1 down to win 5-4, winning the last four games 2-1 and stay level on points with leaders The Red Arrows but with an inferior average.

The Small Heath League staged their 501 Presentation Night Knockout and lifting the title with a final win over Eddie Martin (Devils Club) was Neil Parsonage from the Emerald Club. Losing semi finalists were, Eddie Bullock (Red Hill Tavern) and Paul Brown (Custard House).

On the fixture card for the Gulp League was their Doubles Knockout. In the opening round Steve Moon and Eddie Kennedy scored 435 with their first four throws, but then lost out to eventual Champions Colin Wyatt and Matt Cooper, Colin hitting the only maximum of the night.
In the final, as it had been throughout the evening, it was the sharper finishing of Wyatt and Cooper that gave them their victory over Rob McConnell and Chris Stokes.
