Warwickshire played fixture number four in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter Counties Championships, a home tie against Cambridgeshire and recorded the first victory of the season so far 20-16 . Top man Tom Ryan (29.02) helped the men’s ‘A’ side to a cracking 9-3 win, while Steve Giddings was the man of the match for the ‘B’ which ended all square at six each.
The ladies ‘A’ are still looking for their first points of the season as they slipped to their fourth consecutive defeat 4-2 with as the norm Trina Gulliver (25.91) taking the match award. The ‘B’ team had a very creditable draw, coming back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 and then end up at 3-3, Kim Morris (17.68) being their top player.

West Midlands travelled to the south west to take on Somerset in their latest division one game and chalked up their first win since the opening day of the season when they beat Middlesex. The men’s ‘A’ won 7-5 with veteran player Ian Jones (28.10) man of the match, Chris Stanley (29.43) was the top man in the ‘B’ teams 9-3 win, their third in four outings.
Unfortunately the ladies ‘A’ suffered their fourth defeat and their third consecutive 6-0 whitewash. It was however, good news for the ‘B’ side as they registered their first win of the campaign, a 4-2 result with Jacqueline maiden (15.64) lady of the match. The overall result was 20-16 to the Midlanders.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners, reigning premier division champions in the Sheldon and District Winter League went through last season without losing any of their 22 fixtures and were runaway champions. This season so far they have played nine games and lost three, the latest being a 5-4 defeat away to Red Lion, who are sixth in the table. The result leaves Saltley third in the table, six points adrift of leaders Olton RBL who have played one game fewer. Olton’s latest victory was a convincing 8-1 result away to Riley’s.
In division two Forget-Me-Not are leaders on 16 points, but behind them come no fewer than five teams, Shard End Social, This is Darts, Beaufort Sports and Social, Small Heath Amateur Gardeners and Yardley Ex Colts all on 12 points.

Riley’s are leading the way in the Forest of Arden Winter League with just average separating them at the top of the table. A 9-0 whitewash handed out to Sheldon Flights has seen Riley’s Flights top the table, with Riley’s Red Arrows slightly behind on average after their 8-1 win away to Highwood ‘A’. The chasing pack is already, after only five fixtures, four points behind the leading duo.

Sutton Sports, The Fox and Old Oscott Arrows all won in division one of the Four Oaks and District League this week, beating in turn Red Lion Flights, Golden Hind and Deer’s Leap. The three teams are locked together on ten points, only points of average separating them.
In division two second placed Anvil Nomads surprisingly went down 7-2 away to sixth in the table Old Oscott WMC and as a result leaders Pint Pot Flights, who won 7-2 at White Lion Barrels now have a four points buffer at the top of the table.
It’s close at the top of division three with The Red Arrows in pole position on ten points from six games and Brookvale second also with ten points but from five games.
W.Naylor (Royal Oak) hit the only maximum of the week.

Three games played in the Small Heath League this week and all of them finished with close 5-4 results. Custard House go top of the table with their win over Mitre but, level on points with them are Emerald Club and Wagon and Horses who in turn beat Custard House Flights and Devils.
