The preliminary round of the Punch Bowl has been the order of the day for the Sheldon and District Winter League and biggest winners of the round were Red Lion, who had a somewhat surprising 8-1 success over Pavilions as Red Lion are next to bottom of the premier division and Pavilions are five places above them in the table. There were 7-2 wins for Olton RBL and Bagot Arms who beat respective opponents Sheldon Social and Dovecote, while 6-3 was the winning margin for Shirley RBL Flights, Stechford Social, Yardley Ex Colts and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners. The other winners, Greville Arms, Yardley Arms, White Hart and Holy Souls all won 5-4.

A few upsets in the Four Oaks and District league this week, first in the second division where bottom team White Lion chalked up their first win of the season a 7-2 win against local rivals White Lion Barrels, who were fourth in the table. Oscott Social Clarets lost their number one spot after losing 7-2 at home to Pint Pot Flights, who have jumped from third to pole position. In division three third from bottom Oscott Social Reds won 5-4 away to third placed Pint Pot Arrows.
Division one leaders the Fox had a testing away game against third placed Boldmere Sports, but returned with a 7-2 win giving them eight points from five games. Sutton Sports and Old Oscott Arrows are two points behind Fox, both of them having played one game fewer.

The 2010 season in the Small Heath League finished with the End of Season 501 Knockout and winning the title was Emerald Club representative Neil Parsonage, who beat Paul Brown from the Custard House in the final.

The Small Heath League have got their new 2010-2011 season underway and in the opening games Custard House had a 7-2 win over Wagon and Horses to become the early pacesetters, with Custard House Flights and Mitre close on their heels after in turn beating Hay Mills Social and Devils 6-3.

Lady Westminster have lost the top spot in the Camp Hill League after going down 4-3 away to their nearest rivals Roost. Devils stay rooted to the foot of the table following their 5-2 defeat away to Clement Arms.

The first round of the Divisional Cup was on the fixture card for the Pip Club League. In division one there were wins for Birchmoor Club, Belgrave Club, Three Horse Shoes and J W Belgrave Club, while winning through in the second division were Queens Head, Two Gates Club, Moat House and Sports Bar 180.

Highwood ‘A’ lost ground in the title race in the Forest of Arden Winter League, when in the third fixture of the new season they lost 5-4 at home to Harvester. Highwood, who were second in the table have dropped to fifth. Three teams have 100% wins, Riley’s Flights, Riley’s Red Arrows and Greville Arrows, and are in that order with just points of average separating them.
At the other end of the table Riley’s Mixed recorded their first win of the campaign, 5-4 away to Sheldon Arrows.

In the Gulp League there were 7-0 whitewashes handed out by both Rebels and Tribe to respective opponents Lions and Tigarrettes, keeping Tigers top on eight points and Tribe, who are two points behind them second. The league played off the first round of their Divisional Cup, which saw wins for Tigers, Cranes, Beasts and Tribe, with Who’s, Tigerretts Lions and somewhat surprisingly Tribe all making their exits.
