The Forest of Arden Winter League have got their new season underway and reigning champions Riley’s Red Arrows began in fine form winning their home tie with Harvester 6-3. However, it’s Old Bill and Bull who top the table and set the pace after handing out an 8-1 thrashing to their local rivals Old Bill and Bull Flights.

It was the preliminary round of the Brian Goodman Cup on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League and the best performance of the round was supplied by Sutton Sports who chalked up an 8-1 win away to Oscott Social Clarets. There were 7-2 wins for Old Oscott Arrows, White Lion and Aston Social, who in turn accounted for Deer’s Leap, White Lion Barrels and Royal Oak. Other teams to win through to the first round proper were, Sportsmans Rest, Boldmere Sports, The Fox, Brookvale, The Red Arrows, Old Oscott WMC, Pint Pot Flights and Grave Diggers.

The only maximum of the week came from K.Shepherd (The Fox) his second of the season so far.

Unusually Saltley Amateur Gardeners are not having the best of seasons so far in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, their latest fixture seeing them go down 5-4 at Old Bill and Bull, their third defeat in six outings to leave them fourth in the table. Olton RBL are leading the field, a 5-4 win away to Pavilions giving them five wins in as many games.

In division two Willclare Sports and Social have taken over as outright leaders following their 7-2 win at home against Highwood ‘B’ and former joint leaders Forget-Me-Not only managing a 6-3 win at home to ThisisDarts, that one game difference the gap between the two teams.

Maggies have dropped to second place in the third division as a result of their 5-4 home defeat at the hands of their nearest rivals Ridgemere Social Flights who have now taken over pole position with the same ten points as Maggies.

Red Lion consolidated their number one spot in division one of the Pip Club League with an emphatic 14-2 win away to North Warwick Cricket Club, giving them 20 points from 11 games. Second placed Birchmoor Club were not far behind Red Lion with a 13-3 home success against Dolphin, but are one points adrift of the leaders and have played one game more.

Two Gates Club took their points tally to 25 from 15 games with an 11-5 win at Bolehall Swifts to keep them four points ahead of second placed Sports Bar 180, but Sports Bar 180 do have two games in hand.

For the Gulp League it was a week of firsts as both Lions and Tribe in turn suffered their first defeats of the campaign against Beasts and Rebels, and Cranes chalked up their first win of the season, a 5-2 success away to Tigerrettes.

The two top teams in the Camp Hill League, Lady Westminster and Roost both won this week, the former winning their home tie against Clements Arms 6-1 and the latter recording a 5-2 away win against Devils Club. Both teams have six points from four fixtures with Lady Westminster having the slightly better average to put them in the top position.
