Saltley Amateur Gardeners, reigning premier division champions of the Sheldon and District Winter League, after a somewhat shaky start to the season which saw them lose the opening two games against Olton RBL and the Crown have now stepped up a gear winning the last three fixtures. The latest encounter was a home tie with previously unbeaten Pavilions. The result was a 7-2 success for Saltley taking them into second spot in the table two points behind Olton RBL, who have played one game fewer than Saltley.

In division one both Iron Horse and Scanlons lost ground in the title race as they in turn lost 5-4 to Yardley Ex Flights and 8-1 to Redhill Tavern. Highwood ‘A’ despite having a bye this week remain top of the table on average from Yardley Ex Flights and Castle Vale Residents Association, who have both played two more games than Highwood.

It’s close in division two with no fewer than four teams, Forget-Me-not, Willclare Sports and Social, Shard End Social and Yardley Ex Colts all locked together on eight points. Shard End have a game in hand on their rivals.

A 6-3 win at New Firs keeps Maggies top of division three on ten points, second placed Ridgemere Social had a convincing 8-1 home win over Shirley RBL Misfits to give them eight points from four games, one game less than Maggies.

Division one of the Four Oaks and District League provided all the shocks this week as the top four teams all lost. Leaders Boldmere Sports lost their home game with Sutton Sports 5-4, Sportsmans Rest also played at home and lost 5-4 to Old Oscott Arrows, Red Lion Flights, again the home side went down 6-3 to the Fox and Fox and Dogs were another team to lose 5-4 at home, their victors Golden Hind, who were previously bottom of the table without a win.

Anvil Nomads, Pint Pot Flights and White Lion Barrels are all undefeated in division two, but it took a last game win for the latter to beat Drakes Drum.

Unbeaten Brookvale are two points leaders of division three after a clear cut 7-2 win at Deer’s Leap Stags, this was Stags first defeat, they and Red Arrows are two points adrift of Brookvale.

There were maximums this week for A.Jarvie (Boldmere Sports), J.Collins (Sportsmans Rest), C.Williams (White Lion Barrels) and J.Clarke (Drakes Drum).

Cup finals have been on the fixture card for the Small Heath League, first the League Cup in which Emerald Club clinched the title with a final victory over the Mitre. The Upside Down Cup crown went to Redhill Tavern who fought off the challenge of the Custard House in the final round.

The top two teams in the Camp Hill League played each other this week and the close 4-3 verdict in favour of Lady Westminster took them above their rivals Roost to pole position, both teams have six points with Roost slightly behind on average.

Tigers and Tribe are locked together at the top of the Gulp League, level on both points and average. In their latest round of results Tigers beat Rebels 5-2 and Tribe had a 6-1 success at home to the Who’s. Lions also have the same points as the top two teams but trail on average despite their last result being a 7-0 win over Tigerrettes.
