The Tamworth Sports Bar League have had their Charity Cup and Doubles Knockout on the fixture card recently and in the former the final was contested by Sports Bar 180 and Three Horse Shoes. Shoes opened up a 2-0 lead with wins from Sam Whittaker / Clyde Hooper and Simon Caswell / Paul Whittaker in the doubles and then went 3-0 up when Peter Albrighton beat Terry Molineux. Sports Bar fought back taking two thanks to Paul Corfield and Phil Jones but Sam Whittaker win over Trevor Barrs put the result beyond doubt giving Three Horse Shoes a 4-2 victory and the title.

In the doubles knockout is was another success for Sam Whittaker when he and Paul Whittaker beat Mark Tomlinson and Clyde Hooper in the final.

Cup finals have also been the order of the day for the Gulp League. First the E.L.Ollerenshaw Cup in which the Rebels beat the Beasts to take the title. The Beasts then lost out again in the Victoria Cup as they finished runners up once more, this time to the Who’s.

The Old Bill and Bull, Gulp Charity Team and the Sheldon League darts teams will be staging a charity night for the late Ken Parker, former secretary of the Old Bill and Bull at the Meadway Sports and Social Club, Kenlymead Road, this coming Friday with an 8.00pm start. The Small Heath League have been involved in the semi finals of their League Cup and in the tie at the Custard House Mitre beat the Redhill Tavern, while at the Wagon and Horse it was Emerald Club who mad their way to the final with a win over the Devils.

Sports Bar 180 consolidated their number one position at the top of the second division in the Pip Club League with a 13-3 away win over Old Liberal Club, but currently they are only top on average with a game in hand on second placed Two Gates Club, who had a 9-7 win away to Pip Club.

In division one Red Lion stay top after their 11-5 win at Three Horse Shoes, with second in the table Birchmoor Club just one point adrift following their 10-6 at Belgrave Club.

On the individual scene T Stubbs (J W Belgrave Club) hit a maximum as did M.Martin (Dolphin), who also recorded a checkout of 153.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners, reigning premier division champions in the Sheldon and District Winter League have not got the new season off to a very good start. In their curtain raiser they lost 5-4 to last season’s runners up Olton RBL and in the latest round of fixtures they again went down, this time 6-3 away to the Crown.
