Congratulations to Bob Nixon who for the second successive season has won the Carlsberg Olton Double Top League. Last season Nixon shared the title with Tony Randell, both players finishing the campaign level on points and average, nothing separating them. This season it was again a very close run affair with both Nixon and Andy Hutchings ending up with 74 points and the same average, but the title was decided on the matches won and Nixon had won 26 to Hutchings 25. Tony Randell was third just one point adrift of the top two as was Pat Sinnett.

Both Riley’s Arrows and Kingshurst Labour Club recorded 5-2 wins in their respective ties with Pavilions and Red Lion, while Bagot Arms reached the semi finals with a close 4-3 verdict over Sheldon Dukes.

It is with great sadness I have to report the recent passing away of one of darts true gentlemen, Eddie Hackett. Eddie played darts in and around the Birmingham area for many years, I personally got to know Eddie when we were both playing for the Sports Argus Charity team. Eddie also represented Warwickshire on no fewer than 54 occasions.
Thoughts and sympathies go to Eddie’s family he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
