Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry, was the setting for the regional play off for the BDO British Champions Cup and winners of the men’s event was West Midlands. A final clear cut 7-2 victory over Leamington gave the West Midlands the title thanks to wins from Peter Wyse, Ian Jones, Lol Frazer, Richard Foster, Jamie Hughes, Chris Hickman and Chris Plumpton.
The women’s play off turned out to be the complete opposite with Leamington handing out a 5-0 whitewash to West Midlands in the final. Winners for Leamington were G.Marshall, Trina Gulliver, Sue Biddle, Viki Franklin and Denise Burke.
The two winners, West Midlands and Leamington will now go forward to the grand finals at Staverton Park, Staverton, Daventry this coming Sunday, where the men will be chasing a top prize of £1,000 and the women £700.
