A 2-1 win over Ross Macken sees Ian McFarlane hold on to pole position in the thisisdarts Individual League. The win has strengthened McFarlane’s push for the title as he now has a four points lead over second placed Robbie Earle and he also has games in hand on all of his nearest rivals.

At the other end of the table congratulations go to Blane Home, who in his twelfth fixture chalked up his first win of the campaign, a very creditable 2-1 success against top half contestant Steve Cousins, however he remains rooted at the foot of the table on six points, six adrift of next to bottom Terry Blakemore.

The encounter between Darren Whitehouse and Adam Gallett saw no fewer than eight three figure scores, Darren hitting 140,180 plus a break of 100 and finish of 109, while Gallett’s top shots were 125 and 100 with breaks of 120 and 100.

Cup finals were on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League, the first of which was the Derek Masters Trophy, sponsored by Central Container Services. Winner of the event was Sutton Sports representative L.Harris (3×100) who had a 3-1 win against runner up T.Colley (Red Lion Flights).

The Brian Goodman Cup was won by Sutton Sports, a 7-2 final success against Pint Pot Flights, and with a similar scoreline the Fox beat Boldmere Flights in the final of the Ken Rust Cup.

The Small Heath League staged their end of season Cricket Knockout and taking the honours was the “Ken Dodd’s Dad’s Dog’s Dead” team comprising of Arthur Forde, Terry Constable (Devils), Eddie Bullock (Red Hill Tavern), Peter Hopkins and Roy Congrave (Emerald Club). Runners up were the ”Rings Around Uranus” side of Joe Fox, Mark Fisher, Neil Parsonage (Emerald Club), John McCaffrey (Devils) and Mick Fowle from the Mitre.

The Gulp League have got their new season underway and kicking off with the best possible start were the Tigers who handed out a 7-0 whitewash to the Rebbels. Reigning champions, the Tribe won 5-2 against the Who’s and there was a close 4-3 verdict in favour of Lions against Beasts.

TD Events will be staging their “2010 Bank Holiday Bonanza” on Sunday 30th May at the St Johns the Baptist Community Centre, Arron Way, Chelmsley Wood. The competition will be restricted to the first 64 entrants on a first come first serve basis and prize money of £700 for the winner, £300 runner up and £100 semi finalists is subject to achieving that number.

Congratulations to West Midland County players Dean Stewart and Nicky Bache, who from an original entry of 171 players won through from Riley’s Snooker Hall and Darts Zone, Wolverhampton, to the next round of the UK Open to be played off at Bolton.

Both players were involved in very close final rounds as Stewart beat Gareth Pass 3-2 and Bache, by the same margin took out fellow county player Ian Jones.
