A home tie against Glamorgan was the latest fixture for Warwickshire in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter Counties Championships. Lying dangerously close to the relegation area a win was what was need from the local county and that was exactly what they provided. The men’s ‘A’ made it four wins in a row and three consecutive 8-4 results. Top man for the ‘A’ side was again Noel Grant, who improved on his last average of 31.31 with a superb 32.28. The ‘B’ also won 8-4 and are now been unbeaten in the last four outings, their man of the match was Mark McGeeney, who also had a top average of 32.00.
It was not such an enjoyable weekend for the ladies, neither of them having recorded a win so far in this campaign. The ‘A’ team lost 4-2 with Trina Gulliver (24.24) once again the lady of the match, while for the ‘B’ Angela Jones (14.05) was the sole winner.
Nevertheless the overall result of 19-17 was enough to increase Warwickshire’s lead over second from bottom Hampshire to four points, with two games to play.
