On the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League this week was the first round of their Punch Bowl. Biggest shock of the round was provided by second division team Custard House who played hosts to premier division side Red Lion. The result was a 5-4 win for the home side.
The biggest win of the round was 8-1 and that was achieved by Iron Horse, Glebe Community Association, Mackadown Social and Saltley Amateur Gardeners, who in turn defeated Golden Acres, Willclare Sports and Social, Maggies and Redhill Tavern.
Other teams winning through to round two were, Olton RBL, Scanlons, Holy Souls, Yardley and District Darts Team, Forget-Me-Not, Crown ‘A’, Kingshurst Labour Club, Old Bill and Bull, RAFA, Brook Meadow and Stechford Social.
A.Smith (Forget-Me-Not) had a 160 break.

The Sports Bar Knockout Competition was on the agenda for the second division of the Pip Club League. Round one winner’s were, North Warwick Cricket Club, Two Gates Club and Polesworth Darts Club and winning in round two were, North Warwick Cricket Club, Kettlebrook Club and Gate Inn (Amington).
Just one league fixture was played in division one and saw Sports Bar beat Winning Post 14-2 to move into second place in the table one point behind leaders Red Lion ’A’.

A 7-2 win at home against Wagon and Horses has seen Beaufort Social Club take over the lead in the Small Heath League. However, former leaders Mitre, despite having a 5-4 win at Potcheen Still are two points adrift of the new leaders but with two games in hand.
Emerald Club chalked up a 7-2 home win over Redhill Tavern, their first win of the season in five games, Redhill remain rooted to the foot of the table.

League Cup and Victoria Cup were the Gulp League’s priorities this week. First the League semi finals which saw Trotters and Tribe in turn defeat Lions and Devils. In the last four play off for the Victoria Cup it was Rebbels and At Andrews who were victorious against respective opponents Beasts and Who’s.

There was a bottom of the table clash in the Harborne 401 League with bottom team Quinborne ’B’ travelling to take on their nearest rivals Avenue Social. Prior to the game neither team had won any points from their nine matches played, but it was the home side that won the day beating their opponents 6-3 to move two points above them.
At the other end of the table there was little change as leaders Hillyfields ’B’ won 6-3 at Bartley Green F.C. and second placed Smethwick Labour Club won their home tie with Bell Inn ’A’ 8-1. Thimbermill moved up from fourth to third place when they beat Bell Inn ’B’ 5-4, who have now dropped into fourth position. Thimbermill and Smethwick have sixteen points, four fewer than Hillyfields, but Thimbermill do have a game in hand.
The league played a charity game against the Sports Argus Charity Team recently and raised an amazing amount of £1,154.00. Both the Troup Aid at Selly Oak Hospital and Air Ambulance will receive £577.00.
Special mention goes to three of the player, Paul Watkins (Hillyfields) raised £380,00, Stuart Bourne (Quinborne Social) raised £192.00 and John Kearns (Quinton Members Club) who raised £127.00, the remainder of the monies was raised by other league members. The league officials would like to thank all concerned on making it a fantastic night.
