A 2-1 win over Steve Harding followed by a 3-0 success against Chris John has given Tony Randell a two points lead at the top of the Carlsberg Olton Double Top League. Former leader Bob Nixon lost a little ground when all he could manage was 2-1 wins over Mark Price and Mark Wall and currently has to settle for second place.
Third in the table Lee Harris has reduced the arrears on Nixon after two straight 3-0 victories against Steve Sidwell and Chris Connelly and now has 47 points, just three less than Nixon and five behind Randell.
Eight maximums were recorded this week and they were supplied by Andy Hutchings, Bob Nixon, Mark Price, Chris John, Pat Sinnett (2), Chris Stokes and Steve Harding.

Week eight’s fixtures in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League brought together the top two teams, leaders Bromford Bridge Members Club Exiles and second placed Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Bromford had home advantage but nevertheless honours were shared in a 4-4 draw. Third placed Mackadown Social suffered a shock 5-3 defeat away to bottom of the group Sheldon Dukes.
Shannons dropped from second place to fourth in group five following their 6-2 away defeat against Willclare Sports and Social who have moved up to third in the table from fifth.
In group six Yardley Arms lost their 100% win record when they went down 5-3 at home to The Maggies, however they still hold a two points lead over second placed Custard House who chalked up an 8-0 whitewash against bottom team Barley Mow.
Top individual honours for the week went to, M.Gallett (Bromford Bridge), C.Stokes (Redhill Tavern), G.King (George V) and A.Hoey (Kingshurst Labour Club) who all hit a maximum and K.Maloney from the Custard House who recorded a tremendous 160 game shot.

In division one of the Pip Club League leaders Glascote Club were held to an 8-8 draw by their nearest rivals Three Horse Shoes to leave a one point gap between the two teams. Third in the table Red Lion ’A’ recorded a massive and somewhat surprising 14-2 win in their home tie with fourth placed Queens Head.
Just one fixture was played in division two and that saw North Warwick Cricket Club win their home game against Two Gates Club 9-7. Kettlebrook Club still lead the field on six points with North Warwick on the same points but having played one more game. Gate Inn have four points and Two Gates three, but both teams have a game in hand on the leaders and two in hand on North Warwick.

The first round of the Victoria Cup was on the agenda for the Gulp League. Eight teams took part and wins were recorded for St Andrews, Rebbels, Beasts and Who’s, they beat in turn Shaftsmoor, Pickwick, Roost and Clements.
