The first round of the Mrs F. Richman Trophy was on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Summer League and the biggest winners of the round were Mackadown Social, Bromford Bridge Members Club Exiles and Stechford Social who in turn handed out 7-0 whitewashes to Lea Hall Sports and Social Club, Olton RBL and Maggies.

Other teams going into the hat for the round two draw are, Shard End Social, Scanlons, Vaughans, Highwood ‘A’, Sheldon Social, Yardley and District ‘A’, Yardley Ex Flights, Old Bill and Bull, Iron Horse, George V, Golden Acres and Shirley RBL.

Two late league results saw group two’s Shirley RBL suffer their first defeat of the campaign as they went down 5-3 at Iron Horse. Iron Horse have moved up from third to second in the table. In the other game there was a bottom of the group five table duel between bottom team Shannons and next to bottom Yardley and District ’B’ which finished all square at 4-4.

Ian McFarlane was involved in a high scoring game with Tony Comerford in the Brook Meadow Individual League with the latter getting the 2-1 verdict. Comerford recorded a 160 and 120 break while McFarlane broke with 150 and also hit a maximum. Despite the defeat McFarlane remains in second place in the table just two points behind leader Carl Winters, who after finishing 3-0 down to Darren Whitehouse bounced back with a 2-1 success against Adam Thomas.

The Gulp League with busy with the second round of their League Cup which saw Lions, Tribe, Trotters and Devils defeat respective opponents St Andrews, Who’s, Clements and Shaftsmoor.

In the Small Heath League, newcomers Stechford Social Club have taken over pole position in division one. Stechford have played eleven games and have sixteen points. Wagon and Horses and Potcheen Still also have the same number of points with an inferior average and Wagon and Horses have played one game more than their rivals.

The Pip Club League have got their new season underway and kicking the season off with a bang were division two side Gate Inn and Kettlebrook Club who each chalked up a massive 13-3 win over their respective opponents Cuckoo’s Rest and Bull (Polesworth).

In the first division Glascote Club and Queens Head were the biggest winners who in turn beat Dolphin and Sports bar 180 11-5.

Biggest individual score of the week went to Three Horse Shoes player Paul Whitaker who notched a maximum.
