The West Midlands recently played off their county finals of the Gold Cup Singles and Doubles. In the semi finals of the singles Martin Angell lost to Ian Jones and Tommy Aldridge went out to Chris Plumpton. Jones went 2-1 up in the final only to see Plumpton draw level and then go on to win the event 3-2.

The doubles had a disappointing turn out of only fourteen entries, but that in no way lowered the standard of play in the competition. Winners were Peter Wyse and Tom Aldridge.
