Nine games, nine wins, divisional champions and promotion to the premier division, that’s Warwickshire’s record this season in division one of the BDO Inter Counties Championships. In their final game, a home tie against County Durham they chalked up a 21-15 win, the men’s ’A’ finished all square at 6-6 , Noel Grant (30.54) their top man, while Mark Kane (28.57) took the ’B’ award in a convincing 9-3 win.
Trina Gulliver (24.62) made it eight match awards out of a possible nine for the season as the ladies ’A’ won 4-2. The result for the ladies ‘B’ was also 4-2 but unfortunately in favour of County Durham. Louise Graham (18.87) took the ’B’ side’s award.

In the same division it was not a good weekend for the West Midlands. Apart from the two promoted teams, Warwickshire and Gwent, who ran away from the rest of the pack, there were not many points separating the other eight teams and so wins on the last day of the season were vital to almost everyone. Sixth placed West Midlands travelled to take on ninth in the table Cornwall, but the result was 24-12 in favour of the hosts. The points took Cornwall to an amazing third place, while West Midlands replaced them in ninth place and as a result are relegated.
Peter Wyse (30.49) was man of the match in the ’A’ side’s 6-6 draw and Mark Lloyd (26.65) grabbed the honours in the ’B’ teams 7-5 defeat. For the second consecutive fixture Leanne Jennings (21.63) was the only winner for the ladies as the ‘A’ lost 5-1 and the ‘B’ 6-0.

Old Bill and Bull march on in division two of the Sheldon and District Winter League, their latest match seeing them beat Custard House 8-1 to make it played twenty, won twenty. Second placed Willclare Sports and Social won 6-3 at Golden Acres and remain four points adrift of the leaders and having played one game more.
Stechford Social and Iron Horse, the top two teams in division one both won 7-2 against respective opponents, Lea Hall Sports and Social and Small Heath Gardeners Flights. Third place Scanlons went down 6-3 at Sheldon Social.

Carl Winters is the new leader of the Brook Meadow Individual 301 League after 3-0 win s against Jason Farthers and Ricky Lawrence. With a total of 54 points Winters is two clear of his nearest rival Rob Wilson, who won both of his games against Ricky Lawrence and Jay Murray 2-1.

A 5-4 win at Stechford Social Club keeps Potcheen Still in pole position in the Small Heath League with 10 points. Second place is shared by Emerald Club and Wagon and Horses who are locked together on the same 8 points and also have exactly the same legs average. Stechford have dropped to fourth and also have 8 points but are just one leg of average behind Emerald and Wagon.

On the fixture card for the Pip Club League was the Division One Cup. Round one saw wins for Glascote Club, Belgrave Club, Three Horse Shoes and Winning Post. In the semi’s Glascote beat Belgrave and will now meet Winning Post in the final on the 28th May after they took out Three Horse Shoes.

The Gulp League got their season underway and it was a good start for Rebels who won 6-1 at the Who’s. Just behind Rebels are Beasts and Tribe who in turn had 5-2 wins over Shaftmoor and Lions.
