Two of the three divisions in the Sheldon and District Winter League provided some surprising results this week. First in the premier division where leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners lost their home tie with fourth placed Olton RBL 5-4 and as a result also lost their pole position to Shard End RBL, whose 9-0 win at Castle Vale Residents Association has given them a two point’s advantage over both Saltley and Mackadown Social.
In the first division the top three teams all lost. Top of the pile Vaughans suffered an amazing 5-4 reversal at home to bottom of the table Lea Hall Sports and Social, second in the division Stechford Social lost 6-3 at Iron Horse and third placed Scanlons went down by the same margin at Yardley Ex Flights.
Division two ran to form with leaders Old Bill and Bull beating Shannons 6-3, second placed Willclare Sports and Social also won 6-3 against Millhouse and moving up into third place is Highwood who won their rearranged game against Golden Acres 8-1.

On the fixture card for the Four Oaks and District League was the second round of their Coronation Shield Doubles and the preliminary round of the Norman Day Doubles Cup. In the Coronation Shield division one leaders Sutton Sports chalked up the biggest win of the round a convincing 12-3 home win over Old Oscott Arrows, but not far behind were Sportsmans Rest and Hill Social who in turn defeated Deer’s Leap and Plough and Harrow Arrows.
Joining the three winning teams in the semi finals will be Oscott Social after a 9-6 win against Old Oscott WMC.
Three games were played in the Norman Day Cup, Red Lion Flights and Royal Oak Ruffians both secured 12-3 wins against respective opponents Aston Social and Deer’s Leap Flights, K.Dean recorded a maximum for Royal Oak Ruffians. Anvil Nomads won their tie with Boldmere Sports 9-6.

The Pip Club League had their Challenge Cup on the agenda and in the first round there were wins for Three Horse Shoes, Glascote Club, Sports Bar Tamworth and Globe Inn at the expense of Winning Post, Belgrave Club, Dolphin and Wiggy 180.
In the semi finals Sports Bar Club Tamworth beat Globe inn and joining the in the final will be Glascote Club who took out Three Horse Shoes.
The final will be held at the Glascote Club on Thursday 28th May.

In the GULP League Rebels moved off the foot of the table when they played hosts to the Who’s, who were next to them in the table, and beat them 5-2. Both teams are now on four points with the Rebels having the superior average.
No change at the other end of the table, Tribe and Beasts locked together on 12 points following Tribe’s 5-2 win at the Devils and Beasts 4-3 away win over the Lions.
