There was a top of the table clash in week seven of the Brook Meadow Double Top League, with leader Trevor Frost facing up to Ian McFarlane in the ‘A’ knockout final. The match went the full five legs distance with McFarlane just getting the 3-2 edge. However, Frost remains in pole position on 56 points and McFarlane fourth on 41. Second placed Adam Gallett lost 3-0 to Frost in the semi’s while McFarlane beat Mathew Gallett 3-1

The ‘B’ knockout winner this week was Carl Winters who had a straight 3-0 success over Keith Kelly in the final.

Sportsmans Rest suffered a setback to the title hopes in division one of the Four Oaks and District League when they surprisingly lost their home fixture against middle of the table Anvil Nomads by 5-4. Division leaders Sutton Sports made it seven wins in as many games with a 5-4 win at Red Lion Flights and are now two points clear of the field with a game in hand.

In division two, with a maximum score from K.Shorthouse, Oscott Social beat Aston Social 6-3 to maintain their two points advantage at the top of the table. Old Oscott Arrows are second, they won 7-2 in their away game against Royal Oak Ruffians. Pint Pot chalked up their first win in seven, a 7-2 home win over Plough and Harrow Arrows, but remain rooted to the foot of the table, level on points with their opponents.

The top two players in the Coffin Club Knockout League met in the final of the ‘A’ knockout this week and the close 3-2 result went in favour of second placed Neil Parsonage however, Neil stays in second place behind Trevor Frost who now has a sixteen points advantage over him.

The ‘B’ knockout final was fought out between Mark Osbourne and Roy Parry. Once again the match went to the wire, going the full three legs distance with Osbourne just getting the verdict.

Congratulations to Saxon who in week ten in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League recorded their first win. Playing away to RAFA Saxon won 5-4. The win has put Saxon level on points with Pavilions, but they stay bottom of the table on average. At the other end of the table leaders Mackadown Social won 5-4 at Castle Vale Residents Association and are two points ahead of Saltley Amateur Gardeners, who could go top if they win their game in hand.

In division one just one leg of average separates the leading duo Vaughans and Stechford Social, with the former topping the table after their 6-3 win against Shard End Social. Stechford had a 7-2 win away to bottom of the table Lea Hall Sports and Social.

A 5-4 win at Custard House maintains Old Bill and Bull’s number one spot in division two and also keeps their 100% win record intact. Nearest rivals to the leaders are Willclare Sports and Social who beat Golden Acres 5-4.

Jimmy Norris suffered a setback to his title hopes in the Grange Sunday Night 301 Charity League when he lost 2-1 to Julian Harris. Norris now has 35 points from 14 games and is five points clear of both Eddie Kennedy and Matt Cooper, the latter having a game in hand. Julian Harris is fifth on 22 points but joint top of the shadow league with Mike Forsythe, both players have 4 points.
