What a great start Warwickshire have had to the new season in division one of the BDO Inter Counties Championships, their record so far played three won three, it does not get any better than that!! This coming weekend they will be looking to extend that record to four wins when they play hosts to Derbyshire at Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry.

Winner of this week’s ’A’ knockout in the Coffin Club Double Top League was Neil Parsonage. Neil beat Trevor Frost 3-2 in the final, this being the first time that Frost had not won the ’A’ final. Nevertheless, Frost still leads the overall league table with 28 points, four more than second placed Parsonage.

Winner of the ’B’ knockout was Roy Parry, with Jimmy Green runner up. Green has now been the ’B’ runner twice in three games.

The first round of the Brian Goodman Cup was on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. Old Oscott WMC pulled off an outstanding and very surprising 5-4 win against division one leaders Sutton Sports. There were 180’s for Sportsmans Rest player A.Stainfield and Deer’s Leap man P.Donovan, with Sportsmans Rest getting the 6-3 verdict.

Biggest winners of the round were Boldmere Sports who beat Pint Pot 8-1. Other winners were, Hill Social, Bromford Lions, Oscott Social, Red Lion Flights and Old Oscott Arrows.

Trevor Frost made it two wins in two finals of the ’A’ knockout in the Brook Meadow Individual League to give him a maximum 20 points and a massive eight points lead over both Jason Evans and Adam Gallett. In a high scoring final Frost beat Adam Gallett 3-2 hitting 7×100,3×140,135 and 114 to Gallett’s 3×100,170,140,135,125 and 123.

Winner of the ’B’ knockout was Keith Kelly after a 2-1 success over Robbie Earl.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners 5-4 win at Brook Meadow has taken them to pole position in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Shirley RBL have lost the number one spot following their surprising 7-2 defeat at Shard End RBL and have dropped to third place behind Mackadown Social who won 7-2 at RAFA.

In division one Stechford Social lost 7-2 at home to Sheldon Heath Social and go down to second place, Scanlons, who had a 6-3 home win over Shard End Social move up into top spot.

Willclare Sports and Social extended the unbeaten run to eight games when they defeated Custard House by 7-2. Bordesley Labour Club chalked up their first win in seven fixtures a 6-3 home win over bottom of the table Barley Mow.

Pheasant, reigning champions of the Harborne and District Winter League are leading the way once again with two wins in the opening two games they are top by just one leg of average on Smethwick Labour Club, last seasons runners up. Both teams won the first fixtures 7-2 but in the latest games Pheasant recorded another 7-2 win at Hillyfields while Smethwick beat Bartley Green F.C. 6-3.

The Pip Club League has played their Open Cup Knockout down to the last four. In the quarter finals the winners were Three Horse Shoes, Dolphin, Glascote Club and Belgrave Club, who in turn defeated Queens Head, Two Gates Club, Globe Inn and Bull (Polesworth).

In the first league fixtures of the new season Sports Bar Club were the biggest division one winners handing out an 8-0 whitewash to newly promoted Winning Post.

In the second division all three games played finished with a 5-4 scoreline, Bull (Polesworth), Two Gates Club and Queens Head beating respective opponents Gate Inn (Amington), North Warwick Cricket Club and Kettlebrook Club.

There were 7-2 wins for both Victoria 301 Club and Custard House at the expense of Victoria Flights and Emerald Club in the Small Heath League. Potcheen Still had a 6-3 home win over Small Heath Amateur Gardeners.
