There was big wins for the top three teams in division one of the Harborne and District Summer League this week. Leaders Smethwick Labour Club returned from Quinborne with a 7-2 result, while second and third placed Midland Red and Hillyfields ’A’ in turn recorded 8-1 away wins against Woodgate Sports and Social and Man on the Moon, leaving them both just two points adrift of Smethwick.
A 9-0 win at home to Avenue Social has extended Old Crown’s unbeaten record to seven wins. Bartley Green F.C. are second in the table, two points behind Old Crown with a game in hand.
There were 180’s for T.McGlone (Midland Red), T.Hamilton (Hillyfields ’A’) and W.Armstrong (Bell Inn), while 160 breaks were recorded by P.Watkins (Midland Red) and S.Passetti (Quinton Members Club).

3-0 wins against Jim Norris and Mark Price has seen Andy Hutchings move into pole position in the Olton Double Top League. Bob Nixon had mixed fortunes this week beating Karl Bunce and Paul Higgins 3-0 before going down somewhat surprisingly 2-1 to Tom Kelly. Nevertheless Nixon, who is on 45 points, two short of Hutchings has three games in hand on the leader. Tony Randell has moved up into third place following two straight 3-0 wins over Dave Hutchings and Steve Sidwell to put him within three points of Andy Hutchings from two games fewer.

With Mark Birch losing 2-1 to Mathew Gallett, Ian McFarlane now not only has a two points lead at the top of the Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League but also a game in hand. McFarlane beat Adam Gallett 2-1 while Birch bounced back from his defeat to win 3-0 against Ross Macken in which he hit scores of 5×100,137,180 and a 100 finish.
In a tussle at the other end of the table it was Terry Blakemore who finished the 3-0 winner against Terry Clay, however, Blakemore remains rooted to the foot of the table on 14 points from 21 games with Clay just ahead of him on 22 points from 22 games.

A 5-3 defeat at Saltley Amateur Gardeners has cost Brook Meadow the number one spot in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League. Brook have dropped to second place two points behind Olton RBL who won their home tie with Bromford Bridge Members Club 5-3.
Stechford Social and Highwood ’A’ continue their impressive unbeaten run in group’s three and four respectively. Stechford won 6-2 at Vaughans and now hold a four points lead over their nearest rivals Old Bill and Bull, while Highwood ’A’ had a convincing 7-1 success at home to Sheldon Social and have a two points advantage over second placed Yardley Ex Colts with a game in hand.

In division one of the Pip Club League leaders Globe Inn were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw in their home game against Wiggy 180 who are in the bottom three of the table. Belgrave Club have moved up into second place following their 7-1 win against the Bull and now with two games in hand could take over the top spot should they gain convincing wins.
