The Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League has a new leader, Ian McFarlane. Ian chalked up two 2-1 wins against Keith Kelly and Clive Checketts to give him 31 points from 8 games. Previous leader mark Birch also had two 2-1 results but not both of them went in his favour. First he lost to Tony Comerford and then he recovered to defeat John Burdett to give him 29 points with a game in hand on McFarlane.
Just two 180’s this week and both of them came in the fixture between Trevor Frost and Mathew Gallett. Both players hit a maximum but the all important 2-1 verdict went to Frost.

The preliminary round of the Mrs F. Richman Trophy was on the cards for the Sheldon and District Summer League. Just two fixtures made up the round and both of them went according to plan. Group one team Saltley Amateur Gardeners travelled to take on group four’s Yardley Ex Colts and returned after handing out a resounding 7-0 whitewash to the hosts. RAFA, from group two also played away, taking on Willclare Sports and Social from group five. The closeness of the 4-3 result was a little surprising but the winners, RAFA was not.

The Pip Club League had their Open Cup semi finals on their agenda. The group one games saw Wiggy 180 get the better of the all division one clash with the Bull (Polesworth). Current division two leaders Winning Post found their division one opponents Glascote Club a little too strong for them.
The group two play offs brought together the Globe Inn (Group One) and Red Lion (Group Two) and saw the former win through to the final round. In the other semi final Division two side Three Horse Shoes played hosts to division one outfit Queens Head, who came up trumps and will now face the Globe Inn in the final.

In the Small Heath League, champions Mitre added another tremendous 8-1 victory to their tally when they accounted for Wagon and Horses. With only two points separating them a fight is going on for the runners up spot between Custard House and Victoria 301 Club. Custard House had a narrow 5-4 win at the Emerald Club, while the Victoria 301 Club recorded a 6-3 win at home to Potcheen Still. With only one match remaining Custard House hold a two points advantage over the 301 Club, but the club have the superior average. The final games see Custard House at home to champions Mitre and the 301 Club away to middle of the table Wagon and Horses. It should be a nail biting finish.
