As the season fast draws to an end the Sheldon and District Winter League have been playing off their League Cup finals. The premier division final was contested by divisional champions Saltley Amateur Gardeners and Brook Meadow. The result was a very close 5-4 in favour of Saltley.

The division one final was between the top two teams in the division, champions RAFA and runners up Pavilions. The outcome was as it finished in the league with RAFA again the winners with another very close 5-4 scoreline.

Division two was the only game that possibly went against the odds. Second in the table Farringdon Flights took on third placed Willclare Sports and Social and it was Willclare who got the eventual 6-3 verdict.

Also on the agenda for the league was the M & B Cup which with a 7-2 win over Bordesley Labour Club followed by a 6-3 success against Hobs Meadow it was Shard End Social who won the title.

Congratulations to Leamington who in a 24 games season have clinched the Warwickshire Men’s Super League title and been crowned as champions with 190 points, which included 21 wins and just 3 defeats. Runners up Tamworth Winning Post finished the campaign a massive 24 points behind Leamington with Hall Green third a further five points adrift.

The best game average of 34.16 went to Leamington’s Nigel Heydon, while Dave Crossingham (Coventry Cherry Tree) recorded the highest finish, a maximum 170. The least darts of eleven was chalked up by three players Rob Hawker (Sutton Coldfield), Steve Sharpe (Bedworth Cherry Tree) and Steve Timlin from Kenilworth.

It was division two of the Pip Club League that provided the shocks this week, former leaders Kettlebrook Club losing their undefeated record and pole position after suffering a shock 6-2 defeat at North Warwick Cricket Club, who were at the time bottom of the table and without a win. The Cricket Club have now moved above Red Lion who went down 5-3 at Wigginton. Winning Post have taken over the number one spot after their 5-3 home win over Two Gates Club.

No change at the top of the Small Heath League as the top three teams, Mitre, Custard House and Victoria 301 Club all won this week. Leaders Mitre returned from fourth placed Emerald Club with a 5-4 result, while second placed Custard House had a comfortable 7-2 home win over Potcheen Still. Victoria 301 Club were also 7-2 winners in their away tie with bottom of the table Victoria.

This coming Sunday (01-06-2008) the West Midlands Super League will be staging their Pairs Knockout at the county headquarters Gilberts Bar, Willenhall. Registrations will be accepted between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, with the draw being made at 5.30pm.

The competition is open to all registered West Midland Super League players only.
