Just when they needed the points most Warwickshire pulled out all the stops and came up with a tremendous 22-14 victory over Buckinghamshire, which almost certainly guarantee’s their survival in division one.

Ladies ’B’ got the weekend off to a fine start when they beat their counterparts 4-2, Linda Farrell (21.47) their top player. The men’s ’B’ continued the sequence with a 7-5 success, their highest average supplied by Kevin Taylor (24.60).

Sunday did not begin so well as the ladies lost 4-2, once again Trina Gulliver taking the match award with a fabulous 30.06 average. The men’s ’A’ rounded off the fixture with a vital 9-3 success to earn the much needed win. Nigel Heydon’s 28.90 average took the men’s award.

In division two West Midlands were playing an away game against their nearest rivals Derbyshire and went down 19-17 in what could be a vital result in their promotion race. The table at present sees Derbyshire top with 173 points, West Midlands 170, Norfolk 168 and Sussex 165 and the West Midlands final game is against Norfolk, what a finish it’s going to be. The men’s ‘A’ finished all square at 6-6, the ‘B’ lost 7-5, the ladies ‘A’ lost 5-1 and the ‘B’ won 5-1. Taking the match awards were Mark Jones (‘A’ 27.87), Richard Foster (‘B’ 25.47), Sara Jukes (‘A’ 20.04), Sarah Robbins (‘B’ 18.70).

Current leader of the Brook Meadow Individual Double Top League Trevor Frost suffered a set back in his hopes of retaining the title this week when he lost 2-1 to Jake Smith. Now on 107 points he is four ahead of Jason Evans who had 3-0 wins over Mark Elkin and Keith Kelly and has a game in hand on Frost. Third and fourth placed Mark Birch and Ross Macken are respectively six and seven points behind Frost and also have a game in hand. With the biggest half of the season completed the title is still wide open and the remaining games are going to be crucial for the top half a dozen players.

With Boldmere Sports losing 5-4 at Hill Social and Sportsmans Rest winning 7-2 at home against Old Oscott Arrows, Sportsmans Rest have confirmed themselves as runners up in the Four Oaks and District League.

League champions Midland Red added another two points to their tally with a 6-3 win over Boot Flights.

There was no change at the top of the Small Heath League as all top three teams all recorded 6-3 wins this week. Leaders Mitre maintained their eight point’s advantage with a home win against Potcheen Still, second placed Victoria 301 Club beat their local rivals Victoria Flights and third in the table Emerald Club won their away game against bottom of the table Victoria.

Custard House stay fourth after a 5-4 win at Wagon and Horses.
