In their most recent fixture in division two of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships the West Midlands recorded a tremendous and what could prove to be vital victory over rivals Nottinghamshire. Playing at home at Gilberts Bar, Willenhall, West Midlands took on top of the promotional table Nottinghamshire, both men’s teams chalked up fine wins, the ’A’ 8-4 and the ’B’ 7-5. The ladies wee also in good form as the ‘A’ finished all square at 3-3 and the ’B’ won 5-1 to give an overall 26-13 win. Highlight of the fixture was the performance from Jamie Hughes who beat Mark Wilson 3-0 in 13, 16 and 15 darts for a magnificent 35.79 average. Other award winners were Jack Routledge (27.83), Leanne Jennings (’A’ 23.48) and Diane Tolley (’B’ 18.69).
West Midlands now move into second place on 110 points just one behind leaders Derbyshire.
