Warwickshire County Darts Organisation made it three wins in as many games when they played hosts to local rivals Staffordshire and beat them 19-17 to put them third in the division one promotion table on67 points, just one behind second placed County Durham and only two adrift of leaders Surrey.

The ladies ’B’ side finished all square at 3-3 with Mo Jennings (16.16) taking the match award. The ’A’ team recovered from their defeat in the previous outing against Dorset to win 4-2 , Trina Gulliver (28.36) making three consecutive awards from three games so far this season.

The men’s ’B’, with an award winning performance from Noel Grant (29.47) finished all square at 6-6, while the ’A’ side made it two in a row when they emulated the ’B’ teams 6-6 draw. Top player for the ’A’ was Tom Aldridge (26.47) also for the second consecutive game.

In division two West Midlands hosted Berkshire and like Warwickshire won 19-17 and go into second place in the promotional table two points behind Nottinghamshire. Both ladies teams ended at three each with the respective ’A’ and ’B’ match awards going to Leanne Jennings (20.88) for third time in three games and Sarah Robbins (17.84). Them men’s ’A’ earned a 6-6 draw and the ’B’ for two games in a row won 7-5. Man of the match awards went to Steve Farmer (28.88) and for the ’B’ Chris Plumpton with a tremendous 30.06 average.

Trevor Frost is back in action in the Brook Meadow Individual League and has caught up on some of his outstanding games to put him within twelve points of leader Ross Macken with still four games in hand. Frost accounted for Keith Kelly, Matthew Gallett and Dean McCauley with straight 4-0 victories. In addition he beat Ian McFarlane 3-1 and somewhat surprisingly had a 2-2 draw with bottom of the table and winless in 31 games John Masefield.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League leaders Midland Red were made to fight for their home win over Hill Social. Trailing 4-2 the Red’s stepped up a gear to claw their way back to a closed 5-4 victory. Deer’s Leap with the aid of A. Kimberley who had breaks of 2×100 and 115, hit 3×100, 121and also notched a maximum, were also 5-4 winners in a match with Old Oscott Arrows that could have gone either way. Red Lion Flights produced the shock of the division when they beat second in the table Boldmere Sports 5-4 however, despite the result Boldmere hang on to second place.

In the second division Cross Keys have moved into joint top with Anvil Nomads after beating former leaders Aston Social 7-2, P.Koyce in outstanding form for Cross Keys with a 105 break and scores of 103, 3×100,140 and a 180. Congratulations to Pint Pot who after playing six fixtures have recorded their first win, a 5-4 result away to Red Lion Arrows, who are still without a win.

Hobs Meadow have suffered their first defeat in six in division one of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Going down 7-2 at home to Pavilions has seen Hobs drop from pole position to fourth place. Nevertheless, the result does leave Hobs level on points with the three teams above them, RAFA (top), Pavilions and Yardley Ex Colts and they have a game in hand on all four.

Top shots this week were supplied by, R.Agar (Pavilions) and S.Hazlett (Millhouse) who both hit a maximum and there were 160 breaks from R.Earl (Brook Meadow), P.Burnham (Shard End RBL ’B’) and a 158 finish by G.Stych who also plays for Shard End RBL ’B’.

Mitre, reigning champions in the Small Heath League hold on to their two points lead at the top of the table after beating Custard House 7-2. Nearest rivals to Mitre, Victoria 301 Club and Emerald Club, who with ten points are both two behind Mitre, had in turn a close 5-4 win against Wagon and Horses and a 7-2 success over Victoria Flights.
