Ian McFarlane’s rise up the table in the Brook Meadow Individual League continues and this week came at the expense of league leader Trevor Frost. After handing out a 4-0 whitewash to Mark Elkin, McFarlane then took on Frost and with scores of 180,5×140,115 and 4×100 he recorded a 3-1 victory. Following that McFarlane then went on to beat Keith Kelly 4-0 to give him a total of 81 and fourth place in the table, but he still remains a massive fifteen points adrift of Frost. At the other end of the table the bottom two players, John Masefield and Terry Blakemore squared up to each other, the latter getting the 4-0 verdict to open up a 26 points gap between him and Masefield.

Olton RBL, reigning champions in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League began the new campaign in style as they swept to a 7-2 home win over newly promoted Banbury Club. The other promoted team, Shirley RBL had a 5-4 win at Shard End Social.

In division one the two relegated teams from the premier found the going a little tough as they both lost 5-4, Malt Shovel went down at home to Iron Horse and Sheldon Heath Social lost at Hobs Meadow. Farringdon Flights are the early leaders in division two as they began their season with a 7-2 win at Bordesley Labour Club.

The Four Oaks and District League also began their new season and the first team to take pole position in division one is last seasons runners up Midland Red who had an 8-1 away win against newly promoted Deer’s Leap. Hill Social and Red Lion Flights were involved in a very close tussle with T.Vickers (Hill Social) and S.Andrews (Red Lion Flights) throwing some exceptional darts. Hardy Spicer had finishing doubles trouble and as a result the 7-2 win by their opponents Boldmere Sports was a little flattering.

In the second division Aston Social recorded the biggest win, a 7-2 success at Red Lion Arrows. Biggest individual score went to D.Sargent (Cross Keys) who hit a 171 in his side’s 5-4 win at Pint Pot.
